Hey all,

Can anyone advise me of a good merchant account for the UK?

1) im selling international
2) am selling just the one product that will expand to 3 - retail £15 / $25 each
3) low set up fees

Ive looked at durango, but wondered if there are any others worth checking out.

Thanks for your help..

You might also check out Barclay's and Protx.

I would never advise protx, there have been numerous down time problems there

Barclays are expensive like Worldpay!

I use Protx with BOS. Yes Protx has it's downtime but it's not that much and they always limit it to 4 or 5am to try and minimise problems.

Well best sometimes does come with a price. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on your business

We have a merchant account from HSBC and use HSBC ePayment for processing. It is a pain to configure but once up and running has proved to be reliable.

Thanks..

I'm setting up a new hosting company with some friends and we're looking at Worldpay, which seems expensive, especially on startup costs, or using Protx with Barclaycard Merchant Services. Streamline already told us they wouldn't give us a merchant account due to the business sector we're in.

I'll let you know how we get on.

I found these : http://www.durangomerchantservices.com/

a review here (but cant make out if they are linked) http://www.merchantaccountforum.com/ukmerchantaccount.html

Durango are mentioned down the bottom.

Ive asked before about these on WHT but no one seems to have heard about them, which makes me think twice.

From what i gather they are based in the states, have no start up costs and the statement is £20 a month, which isnt bad for the uk.

Why we cant have similar prices/structure to the states on this i dont know.

Anyone else have opinions on these guys id be glad to hear.

Thanks.

EDIT: There are set up fees (i THINK around £80), but only once your accepted. Ive heard some charge before youve even been accepted - not good if you get turned down.
