My root password got changed on my home linux box last night. I know you can restart the computer and do:

Linux Single

passwd root

and so on....,.


But how do I get it to the boot prompt? It is RedHat Linux 7.2 and it automatically goes to the GRUB thing.

I didn't make the boot diskette nor does the floppy drive even work.

Please shed some light on me.

Control + X when the GRUB screen comes up and that will bring up the boot prompt.
