Hello,
I have just recived anther e-mail about upgrading my account at hotmail.

Do you think that they are slowly moving towards charging every user a small fee just for an account?

Don't think so..., it would be not so nice because of all those users who cannot / will not upgrade and lose their hotmail account they used for years.
But hey, it's still a Microsoft product, so anything can happen :)

mmm since they started the "upgrade your hotmail account" service I can't read 2 of my hotmail accounts using Outlook Express.... strange? . :(

I have to use the webmail access.

if it wasn't for MSN Messenger I wouldn't even have a hotmail account. :) It's unusable after 6 years due to the weight of spam that floods through it.

Hotmail doesn't make any money from advertising. They are spamming all of their hotmail users to upgrade their plan to more web space.

Don't like hotmail much. I prefer Yahoo.

Hotmail 2mb
Yahoo 6mb

i'm thinking of switiching my email service from Hotmail. The thing is...I like MSN Messenger, 'cuz it tells me when I have a new email. Also--I've had the same email addy for 2+ yrs. :(

Hotmail really isn't the best mail service around. I only use it because of MSN Messenger, too. I think that if they do make all their users pay money, most of them will just leave for another service, like Yahoo. That will probably make them lose more money than they would gain, in my opinion.

Hopefully they don't make all users pay for an account. It'd be such a hassle to notify everyone of e-mail address changes.

You don't need a hotmail email address to use MSN Messenger; just a .net passport. You can get a passport using any email address.

But hey, it's still a Microsoft product, so anything can happen :) Don't talk about MicroSoft. You might wake up to the MicroSoft Police at your door one day...

Why bother to use Hotmail? You get spam mail from no where. It's a non-stop flood of spam mail. Like what akashik had said, we basically use it for the sake of msn messenger. :):D :D :D

You can use Trillian messenger. It's an all-in-one messenger for Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, MSN.
It also tells you when you have new mail.

AOl keep making minor changes to AIM connection protocols to stop people using things like Trillian (like every 2 weeks), so if you use AIm its not worth it.
Also, now they own ICQ, they seem to be heading down that same path (for a while earlier this year you could reply to an ICQ message, but couldnt initiate a conversation)
Trillian is fully skinnable though, which is nice :D
