Ok - most likely we need a custom CMS made for us. But as a last resort we wanted to list our requirements here, in case anyone knows of a open source CMS that fulfills these requirements!

The CMS system should be based on PHP/Mysql/Apache or another system like ASPX/MSSQL/IIS..we're open for suggestions.

Our requirements listed below are ranked by importance:

Very Important:

1. Support for video streaming (Flash preferred! ...or Windows Media streaming)
2. Integration with vBulletin (show latest threads, members etc..)
3. Articles written by staff for members / article directory
4. Search function in articles
5. Advanced design and customization possibilities

Important:

1. Word index / dictionary for people to look up words & explanations
2. Blog integration for members
3. Online shop ( average shop for members )
4. "Latest news" section

Somewhat Important:

1. Hide parts of the site for members only
2. Polls/Vote systems

There you have it I know there are a lot of components to consider, but as you can tell our current project is huge. We're probably best off with a fully customized CMS, but if any of you know of a great open source CMS that covers our requirements, please let us know.

Thanks to you all

Yes you'd probably need some custom coding along the way, but you could consider using a commercial cms as the platform to provide most of you needs, then having cutsom components written as needed. This would lower development costs.

Two CMS's that might be worth a look at...

bluedreamer - yeah commerical CMS's are is most likely the solution for us. Thanks for the links, will be checking them out :)

NyteOwl - thanks for the links, been there a couple of times. Most of the sites there are Open source..loads of great sites, but non of them really meet our requirements :/
