Just wondering....

I run a website with a phpBB board on it. I have about 1700 members, and 90,000 total threads. I get about 2500 visits per day. I have a few businesses which purchased banner advertising space from me ( top pages of forums to run in rotation with the 3 other banners) and to tell you the truth, I really didnt know what to charge them. The most I get from one business is $45 per month.

So...... how much are some of you guys getting per month from each advertiser? And how big is your forum? Thought this would make an interesting thread, and maybe help me with prices better. :)

I had a very busy music forum/weblog once that I sold off about 9 months ago( 6 more months till the non-compete dies ).

before I tell you what I was making, let me tell you what I did to keep the revenue going.

1) i annouce to the forum that I was willing to take any sort of advertising.
2) i also told the forum where they could find add blocking software
3) I only delt with 1 pop-up company and they gave me some code that would prevent more than 1 pop-up from comming up to a user per 24 hous
4) I also got a small search engine box for the forum ( outside link )

it had about 9000 visitors per day

it earned on average about $20, for the popup's per day
the search box got me another 1.00 per day.

then I found a record label that was gun-ho to give me some simple banner advertising ( 180 per month )

overall it paid some bill. I was happy with it, and it was fun to do ( that was the more important part )

what site was that mike? if i may ask.

i am in a similar situation yet, however, i missed the boat for selling off and i've since removed my forum due to high maintenance costs and overall lack of interest in providing a free soapbox for people who couldn't appreciate it...

heh.

The price depend on what kind of advertiser is and what kind of business are they running.
