View Full Version : Easy CMS
cs2008 02-04-2006, 12:00 PM Hi,
I've been asked by a local football club if I can design a website for them, I accepted.
They would like to be able to login and update fixtures, scores, add news etc.
I've been testing, Mambo & Joomla and they are just to hard to understand even for me, so they are out of the question.
So - Is there any easy CMS around?
TIA,
ThreeD 02-04-2006, 01:08 PM You should take a look at Joomla or http://www.cmsmatrix.org :)
Joomla is a good option if you don't want to do too much work, just add the content and add a custom template.
NyteOwl 02-04-2006, 05:18 PM Might have a look at TextPattern (http://www.textpattern.com)
Evolver 02-04-2006, 07:44 PM Also check out Etomite http://www.etomite.org. Pretty easy to set up and modify to your liking. You can see it working here on my new site (Not finished though)
Shaliza 02-04-2006, 07:45 PM TextPattern is amazing. I use it for my site & it works great.
katon 03-21-2006, 10:17 AM These are the simplest content management systems you can find:
* cmsmadesimple (cmsmadesimple.org) - gives content as a list of pages. This is the most understandable approach to an average user. Plus it provides very powerful interface for module development.
* etomite (etomite.org) - gives edit links under content blocks. Quite easy to get used to, but not as transparent as cmsmadesimple.
* textpattern - quite easy to get used to, but lacks some flexibility and basic functionalities.
xoops.com ?
redaxo.de ?
Drupal.org ?
e107.org ?
WebsiteBaker.org ?
Shaliza 03-21-2006, 08:18 PM Say what? TextPattern doesn't lack flexibility & the functions are easy. All the person has to do is read the docs.
Spyro 03-21-2006, 08:59 PM I would definitely recommend Xoops. Take the time to setup a theme for it, grab some of the standard modules, setup one of the visual editors, and you should be good to go. Don't use any of the 2.2 branch though you would want to use 2.0.13 I think (the last stable one in the 2.0 line).

Are you looking only at opensource/free options or are you interested in commercial solutions ?
01globalnet 03-22-2006, 07:19 PM You should also chech phpWcms - very easy and powerful.

While this thread is older than the lint in my belly button: Personally I recommend e107, which is available at www.e107.org
I've been a user and support of e107 for 3+ years now: best CMS I've ever used! :)
Jay August 03-23-2006, 04:59 AM I've been a translator for cmsmadesimple.org for sometime now, and I love that CMS. It's really easy and understandable and runs smoothly.
azureazure 03-24-2006, 01:23 PM Hi, I use the free blogger.com for cms for clients. basically you create their website, then open a blogger account for them and customize the blogger template to look like their site. they login to the site and post info. yes, it is limited in its application, but can't beat how easy it is for them to use. For each page, you create a blog and keep all the blogs under their acct.
