By the way of mentioning Directi, Enom I want to tell you my story.

I bought domains from Directi 's reseller, in Vietnam. My account was hacked. Some of my domains were deleted (by Move service, I guess). they falled into pending delete restorable state. Although processing the serious things, the system of Directi and its reseller did not do any action to con firm. I got no emails informing of that. However, they said that s my problem and denied to restore them for free. That was the first problem.

I and the reseller chose the way of reregistering them by our money since the restoring cost is fairly high. Finally, the reseller reached a negotiation with Directi that Directi will help register the lost domains on my behalf right after they become available. that would increase the success probability. The second problem was (very ridiculous for such a registrar as Directi):

All of my deleted domains were shared by Markmonitor and Enom 5 hours BEFORE the DROP time informed by Directi.

I got lost! currently, I do not know how to go the right way in domain business.

Now, Directi retrieved some domains back for me. That s a good point among several bad points, even very bad.

Do you guys know the mechanism underlying all these things.
+Why Directi was overpassed by Markmonitor and Enom.
+Who decides the drop time?
+Can we pass the rule of 60 days to transfer?
+What policy control such disputes? From ICANN or the registrar.

If you know the legal documents resolving disputes, share with me. I want to be clear about the rule of the game.

Nice day guys!

I seriously doubt directi would guarantee that they would get the names once they became available. With the advanced technology of pool/snapnames manualy registrations will not cut it

Neither do I since Enom and Markmonitor had already registered it before the drop time!

I think nowadys, hacking cant be avoided. Therefore, protecting legal domain buyer is very critical. We buy the commodity that is not hold by our hand but registrar. If the account is hacked and domains are removed, we have no way other than smiling. That w why I wnat to study the policy resolving disputes and find a registrar can protect me.

Most if not all registrars will do their darn best to protect their customers' domain
accounts as much as they can. But it can't be helped if the account is compromised
one way or another.

So what do you intend to do at this point? Are you thinking of holding DirectI liable
for what happened?

BTW, if you really want a damn secure registrar, as in it's least likely to see your
accounts compromised, then go with Moniker.com.

i think its bad to leave the option of deleting domains by customers.

well atleast add special feature like paperwork delete or faxing of CC copy or so

How did they hack the account? Did they use a key logger?

I dont know
Now I am considering buying domain from Netfirms.com.
Their price and service sound appealing. However, I dont know how much the renewal cost. How much is the transfer fee from Netfirms.com to other registrar? I tried to find but havent found. They hide them??? :) :liplick:

Why don't you ask themselves? You'll be able to check how quickly they respond, as the side effect...

Finally, I got the response. It took about 14 hours. Quite good.

However, the renewal and transfer price is 9.95USD, even when we transfer from netfirms.com to other registrar. I ve just known that. It is funny.:)
