and i want to purchase it.

The thing is how would i go about doing this, his domain expires on 1st march according to whois.

I want to be the first to purchase the domain name once it expires on 1st march.

There a couple of questions i got:

1 - If the domain expires on that day, can i buy it the following day or will he have 30 days to be able to renew his domain.

2 - Whats the best way of being the first to get the domain name?

3 - Is there any other websites i can check to see if the domain is expiring on that day?

And any other advice people got?

Thanks

If you are so keen to get the domain, then why not buy it from the existing owner.

Yep, depending on the registrar's TOS the existing owner can renew the domain during the redemption period, by paying the registrar their redemption fee.

As for acquiring an expiring domain, please read the thread entitled "Backordering" in the Domain Name Tutorials on this forum.

What makes you so sure it's going to expire on 1 March? If it's in active use chances are that the existing registrant will renew it. I have a few domains with expiry dates before 1 March, I have every intention of renewing them but just haven't got round to it.

Assuming we're talking about a GTLD domains (com/net/org etc) it will go into redemption and won't be available for some time. The best chance you have of getting it (assuming it's not going to be renewed) is to use a backorder service - but it's still a gamble because others may be after the domain too.

If you're sure the current registrant is not going to renew and you want the domain badly then why not make him/her an offer before it expires?

most registrars auction domains before they let them go, try contacting the registrar and asking them whois their backorder partner such as:
enom has clubdrop.com
godaddy has tdnam.com
netsol/register.com and few others (https://www.snapnames.com/preferred_info.jsp) uses snapnames.com
dotster has namewinner.com

etc..
