Want to design a logo and waste your time?
Want to put some effort with no appreciation whatsoever?

If the answer is yes, post your entry here, with the following theme:

"A logo for a web hosting company - elements should include all of the following: a zebra crossing an overflown canal by the river Zambese - a flock of flamingoes is rising in the background while the red hot sun sets. Typical African tundra imagery, depicting the advancement of persistant technology and the respect towards the environment".

Logos must be from 10x20 pixels to 600x365 pixels, with 32 colors or more. Feel free to use any designing tool.

We are not sure when the competition will end or if we choose your logo, you go ahead and do it anyway. We promise to return here from time to time to check out your entries and just hang out.

Remember: you get nothing in return and we don't really care.

Good luck y'all.

Okay, I almost have it visualized but the Tiger keeps attacking the Polar Bear and the bloody oil pipeline with all the fiber optic cables laying around doesn't portray a look of "environmental friendliness".

Gack, no matter, the Polar Bear just gave me notice that he's off to another job where it isn't so hot. I can't convince him that this African Tundra is just like his homeland. Oh well, my submission is withdrawn. Or I'm withdrawn. Er, maybe the Tiger is lonely?

Never mind. Have a good weekend!

It don't matter DiziX, you go ahead and post that entry man! :D

I want to see the polar bear drink blood, instead of that stupid Coca Cola commercial!

LOL

Still no go, something about hot cola not sitting well in his tummy. Sorry :(

OK.

How about taking a donkey, painting stripes on it to make it look like a zebra?

Then turn a bright 200W bulb on for the sun, your neighbor's pool can be the river. Add some pigeons instead of flamingoes - you get the idea.

EVERYTHING will be considered - this is a late competition, it was supposed to have been posted the day after March 31st.

I'll speak with my casting agent, who by the way is very upset with me. You'll not see any message stating "no agents were filmed in the harming of this picture." That would be a lie.

My neighbors don't have pools, but I can dig a ditch and fill it with water pretty quickly in my neighbors yard. We have tons of seaguls around, I'm sure I trick them into my birdbath which I'll fill with pink hair dye. The Donkey may be a bit tough, can I use a Llama? We can edit the picture, crop the neck a bit and make it look zebra-like. At least I think we can.

Replicating the Tunda of Africa is troubling, but I'll speak with my special effects agent; he's not as angry with me.

The Polar Bear is gone. He took the tiger back to his place, can't wait to see what that results in.

In case it's not already obvious: this is a mockery of a contest, but it basically resembles the latest trend in contests here, where vague requirements are set and when the entries come in there is no response. Finally, after a couple of weeks the person who started the thread comes back and says "Oh sorry, someone else did the logo 13 days ago but we didn't bother to reply and let you guys know".

Let's have some fun, I would like to see some entries for us to share :D

Is this a joke?
Not to mention the 10x20 pixels??
Here's your logo:

Well it seems you didn't read the whole thread first :)

Sure, I did.
I was replying directly to the initial post, though. What's wrong with that?

And what does "mockery of a contest" mean to you?

It means that I should be more forward about it the next time I join in the fun and am sarcastic myself.

I'll put little <play-along-sarcasm> tags next time. Okay? :D

Why thank you. It's perfect for print, too. Under 1200dpi, it's about 1/20 of an inch!

All humor aside, I think that the response to a certain "logo contest" thread, was a bit distorted as per the circumstances, but oh well. I just think this thread should not be in the job forum, because there's already enough clutter here and people that might be looking for real jobs, might be put off by this sort of nonsense. Not that I care, and not that I'm trying to play "moderator", but there's already too much off-topic pollution in the WHT forums, that this would better fit in the Lounge.

I know it's all nonsense, unfortunately the so-called real contests posted recently don't make any sense either. If you have been following these postings you will know which ones I am talking about.

I have followed one in paticular, that people more than "insinuated" was a waste of time and not genuine, that I in fact know was indeed for real -- and people were upset about no one winning, when, to be blunt, none of the submissions were that good and I'd not be happy with any of them myself -- of course, that's just my taste and opinion. I can understand the frustration of not knowing in what direction to go, but just like people that make a living trying to get advertising compaigns, you have to be creative with your imagination, not just images. So, it didn't appeal, no big deal. If people are worried about how much time they waste creating a logo that someone might not like, then they shouldn't waste their time trying in the first place. Honestly.

As far as I could tell, there was no promise to be paid, just posted about a contest. Most of these don't have deadline's and why should someone *have* to announce a winner, when they are not at all happy with any of the entries? Perhaps there was some promise with some of these, that *someone* would *have* to win, even if it was the best of the worst, but not all of them did. I just think that this thread, albeit a good way to vent for people that wasted their own time (Sorry, I don't mean to sound cruel, but that's the reality), it doesn't belong in the Job's forum where people might be looking for a real, paying job or something. (pardon me, I'm tired of seeing the threads polluted and off topic). I'm not saying people don't have a right to be angry or annoyed or try and vent, but really, don't waste your time in the first place if that's how you feel. People play the Lottery every week, there's no promise that *someone* will win.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth! Its a shame, one of your designs I actually had on the maybe list, guess where it just went. I never said someone else is definitely doing this and did it 13 days ago. Why not go back and read before you open your mouth again.

That thread also has every possibly requirement I could give you without doing the damn logo myself.

Whether it was in reference to that thread or not, he isn't putting words in anyone's mouth.... You people overreact too much...

Even if he was quoting someone, what could they do, he's right. Most of these "contests" or "no contests" rather are hoaxes. That's why I don't enter them. It's not like the forum is unpopulated. They should split the forum up into three. Contests, Free Work (for portfolios and such) and Offers.

If they want to furthur, they could split up the offers.

Fighting is useless here, it's not like anyone listens. So I'll stop whining and let you guys do your unnecessary, totally helping-nothing fighting, while I go do something efficient...

Jag,

You take things always personal?

I don't care which design you picked or not picked, but the pattern is the same: in more than 1 (actually 3) contests recently, the rules are non-existant and after a couple of weeks the contest dissolves with no winner and with a hidden outsider getting the lead. I would call this cheating, but I am being tempted in another case - not yours - to call it fraud.

I contest! I contest!

Intelligent Hosting has obviously forgotton one major aspect of this contest, the Tundra of Africa! I don't see any lizards basking in the snow covered sand, though I do like the reactor towers as well as they promote environmental prosperity.

Man, that Zebra is tiny, where'd you find him? I've been looking for dwarf Zebras for a long long time and all I've been able to come up with is a dalmation with stripes instead of dots; silly pooch. Those flamingos have long necks and will make my Sea Gulls look silly, but oh well. My hats off to Intelligent Hosting who has so far accomodated nearly all of the requirements. I am shamed by my inability to compete.

I shall keep trying! I shall continue in my persuit of the ultimate. Or not...

'til next time.

The elephants shagging in the background is a great element - shows that even with our BEASTLY servers and NUCLEAR UPS we still have feelings of love towards the clients :stickout

Or wait...maybe that's a sign of 'screwy business' ? :D

If its directed towards a post of mine then yes I take it personally. But I see now you didnt mean it to be, at least I dont think you did. I have clear guidelines on what I want and if nothing is presented that I like then how could anyone possibly choose a winner. Well, go forth and conitue to submit ideas , or don't, but I would like to get something we want still.

That image is absolutely precious. The elephants, hidden as they may be, are a nice touch. I suppose they would want their apparent camouflage for such activities anyway.
