Hey Everyone!
I just want some opinions on what is your best and worst web hosting experience. My site at http://www.to-scorpio.com/ is on it's 5th hosting account during the 5 years it has been around. Here is the list of web host from best to worst for my site:
1. www.hosting4less.com - stayed 18 months and moved site because I needed more disk space.
<RECOMMENDED!! Great for medium sites and especially for those who are new at web design and hosting. Eric is friendly, helpful, fast, and responsive on tech issues. He has helped me learn some tricks on putting my site together!!>
2. www.*****.com - current host; connections are fast and tech support is helpful. Lots of disk and bandwidth. However, read and print the TOS as there are some restrictions.
<Recommeded only for those who are experienced web masters who do not need tech support often. You must stay within 20 GB bandwidth and have all files linked together. This is a great service for my site.>
3. www.cwihosting.com - previous host; connections are fast and tech support can be helpful. However, I could not get them to fix Webalizer which is a stats program. Additionally, there were problems with the e-mail in which tech support resolved right away. CTO Taylor falsly accused me of sending SPAM even though I was out on vacation at the time the letters were sent.
<CWI Hosting was a mixed bag of results for me. Factor out the issue with Webalizer, I could say on the most part they are a good hosting service. However, that warning CTO Taylor sent me while on vacation left a bad mark.>
4. www.mindspring.com - Back in 1998, I registered my domain for the first time. Great service record for the time.
<This company is now Earthlink. It's hard to comment but at the time service was fast and downloads were quick. Bandwidth was limited to 1 GB per month and my site got shut down. I moved to what is going to be the very worst of all hosting!!>
5. www.dfwwebs.com - They went out of business 3 weeks after billing me $800.00 in bandwidth overages. They took me to small claims court here in the Dallas - Forth Worth area after I moved my site to hosting4less.com . They stated I only was supposed to get 3 GB a month but the TOS which I presented to the judge said that I got 5 GB per month. My site stayed within those limits. The judge did not know what all that meant so I had to explain what bandwidth was. The judge dismissed the case in my favor.
<DFW Webs is out of business and they also lost a lawsuit they placed against me LOL!>
