View Full Version : Anybody here have this Photoshop font? I'm missing it :(
Frosty 02-03-2006, 11:32 AM Hoping somebody here can help me. In photoshop I'm missing the font called "Precision Bold"... I have this font in my site design. But upon trying to change what the text says in photoshop I get an error message saying that I'm missing this font in photoshop shop and then it uses a replacement font and messes it up. The person who had this font... I can't get a hold of them.
Does anyone here by any chance have this font... and is it possible to email me this font I'm missing? I really need this font... it's the best looking font for my design... I just want to change what the text says but cannot do so because I'm missing the font! Shoot.
Thanks.
Frosty 02-03-2006, 04:42 PM Nobody to the rescue? Doesn't anybody here have that missing font? :(
azizny 02-03-2006, 05:47 PM have lots of fonts, but that aint one of them..

Peace,
theqase 02-03-2006, 06:51 PM Is this it? If not.. Im sorry. I tried...
Had to zip it to attach it... Its clean.
Frosty 02-03-2006, 09:15 PM Thanks for the help... I don't think that was the correct font unfortunately because I downloaded it... then opened my design PSD in photoshop and tried to edit the text. When I tried to edit it I got an error message saying that the font "Precision Bold" is missing and will be replaced with a substitute font.
So it wasn't the correct one :(
Vortex-Steve 02-03-2006, 09:21 PM When you install a new font you will also need to reboot your PC before using it.
Frosty 02-03-2006, 09:27 PM I see thanks. Didn't realize that... all I did was download the font into a folder on my desktop... so all I need to do is reboot? I don't need to somehow import the font into photoshop do I?
I also have this odd problem with macromedia fireworks... whereas I downloaded the font into a folder in my desktop... but when I open an image fireworks says the font is missing. Do I need to somehow import the font into the actual program? I thought all that was needed was to have it downloaded on my PC somewhere. This is regarding another fireworks font... not my photoshop missing font.
Vortex-Steve 02-03-2006, 09:48 PM You have to unzip it, then copy the font into c:\windows\fonts - then reboot.
If it's just on your desktop if won't pick it up.

Actually that isn't the correct way to install a font. The correct way (or at least the way I was taught) was to copy it to say your desktop then go to C:\Windows\fonts and then go to file install new font, and install it from there.
Vortex-Steve 02-03-2006, 10:13 PM Copying and pasting it in does exactly the same thing. It automatically installs it when it realises it is a font file.

I think that restarting photoshop is enough..

Correct. That's the way I've always installed fonts in Windows -- and it's always worked!
I've never had to reboot to use a new font, all the way back to Win95. Install through the fonts folder, instantly accessible. As for the missing font, can't you grab that from the PS CD?
Frosty 02-04-2006, 01:03 AM It worked thanks :)
I copied all the fonts into the window's font folder. I didn't even know I had to do that! Now the font works in fireworks. But unfortunately the missing font is not on cd for photoshop... I cannot seem to find the missing font for photoshop. When I try to edit the text it says the font called "Precision Bold" is missing and then it replaces it with something else... the text it replaces it with is extremely similar but not as nice and clear as the original :(
I bet that font is only available maybe in another version of photoshop. The person who designed my site is the only one who had that font. I can't get a hold of him. Maybe the version I'm using doesn't have that font and never did.
Odd Fact 02-04-2006, 01:04 AM Are you sure the font is "Precision Bold" I do not see that as a standard PS font.
I searched through about 20 or 30 font sites earlier looking for it and the only one I can find was "Precision".
Google brings up one single reference to the font "Precision Bold" from a real estate sign maker:
http://www.runwalkjog.com/vinyltattoos/homeforsalesigns.htm
They list it as a "standard font" but that's the only reference on Google.
Good luck finding it Juliet :)
Frosty 02-04-2006, 01:46 AM Hmmm... yes this is strange. When I open my site design PSD in photoshop and click on the text to change what the text says I get the following message:
The following fonts are missing: Precision Bold
Font substituation will occur. Continue?
Then I click OK to continue and it changes the font to (Times New Roman). Just my luck! So the font (Precision Bold) must be the font that's missing... must be some odd rare mystery font. I'm trying to contact the designer... I know he used photoshop. It's actually the font I have on my website shown here www.jpwear.com ... the font used in my title in the wooden board... I need that font! :)
Maybe that font isn't a photoshop font... maybe it's a firewrosk font... I don't know. Arghhhh.
scottelliott 02-04-2006, 05:40 AM Its just missing from your fonts. If you dont have it find a suitable substitute online at free font sites install it and substitute it.
I have several versions of PS here, and when I installed I included all fonts. No one named Precision Bold (or Precision anything for that matter). Like the others, a search found no one offering it, with only the one mention.
I poked though my fonts collection (about 5K) and found nothing with that name at all.
Odd Fact 02-04-2006, 10:30 AM Which text?
This text is close JP Wear "Just Perfect" is close to
Unit-Medium Alternate
Cg Symphony-Bold
Unit-Medium
WebDesignGold 02-04-2006, 11:20 AM So much hassle about a regular looking font.
Just use any similar font. That font is almost identical to "Lucida Sans". Just make it bold and there you have your "precision".
