I do not know how to set up ftp access for MYSELF....... I cant even get in.... I just purchased a different dedicated server and they just left me out to dry... I do not want to waste $99 just to upgrade.... screw them and their mothers!! I cant stand this... I have looked EVERYwhere on how to install ftp for myself and I can even get that up on the internet... I checked Red Hat Linuxs' website and they say to put in the cd.... well duh I called the company thats hosting my server and asked them to put in the cd... And he said "Oh, we cant just put in the cd." So, I say "Well, then how do I install ftp on my server." and they said "We dont support Red Hat Linux." You dont support it!! Then why the HELL do you have it installed on MY server you stupid piece of SH*T!! I HATE THIS COMPANY!! But am not willing to spend $99 just to switch somewhere else!

Well, so my question again is, "How do you install FTP via telnet?"
I am in a real bind here...
Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Ivan
P.S. The above webhosting company (RackShack.net, be-advised; THEY SUCK!!)

Its an unmanaged server, their not required to putin the cd, that being said it should have come with ftp installed. You can simply download the rpm from rpmfind.net and install it yourself. For information on how to use rpm type man rpm (i believe) although i would question rackshack on why ftp isnt installed, i mean it is a server.... Also less cussing might help you in getting assistance.

RackShack doesn't suck. They just do not provide managed servers. As cbaker said FTP should've already been installed. Which server do you have? ENSIM/PLESK/RAQ?

This thread shouldn't be here, or the poster should heavily modify his original content. As far as I'm concerned, you have no right to complain about how a company that doesn't do support, didn't support you, because you don't know how to run/setup the server properly. I realize this must sound harsh, but some people just aren't ready for unmanaged servers.
