View Full Version : so... godaddy just called
Project X 02-02-2006, 11:30 AM someone from godaddy just called
his name was kyle and he said he just wanted to let us know that we have some names up for renewal.
interesting.
anyone else doing that?
guess they realize cheap prices mean nothing without customer service.
good job godaddy
(ps i dont use them but someone from here does)
Lpal-Jay 02-02-2006, 01:33 PM thats nice, once when i bought hosting from a fairly large company, they called just to confirm the order within 10 mins after it. Although i didn't expect it though ;) someone else picked the phone up and was like "and you are?" as i hadn't told them yet.
ComplexDrive 02-02-2006, 01:55 PM Main reason host would call is to check on fraud or to up-sell, customer service is good, also to head off any requests for transfer, that market is going CRAZY
David 02-02-2006, 03:05 PM I'd be fairly annoyed to receive a phone call out of the blue about something like a domain name.
Funny how some would consider it an annoyance whereas others would consider it service. :) Nonetheless glad you're happy with their service.
nerdie 02-02-2006, 03:26 PM They called you even though you don't use them? I'd be *mad*.
TheComputerGuy 02-02-2006, 03:29 PM I got a call too. I ended up renewing my domain!
Awesome stuff!
repoman 02-02-2006, 03:40 PM lol geni-site.com i think that you are a victim, or something called FRAUD number, basicly someone signs up, gives a fake number and the fake number happened to be yours.
Patrick 02-02-2006, 03:49 PM That's nice of them to call... I have so many domains, I'm scared I'll lose control of one some day so I'm building a spreadsheet of all the domains and dates that they expire for future reference.
Nice job GoDaddy... I wonder if I'll get a call when mine are about to expire!
Darrin 02-05-2006, 09:33 PM Old post I know. I actually received a call the other day. They just called to thank me for being a customer. Never had that one before.
tommyd 02-05-2006, 11:11 PM I receive emails all the time reminding me, but never a call
OnlineRack 02-06-2006, 02:12 AM We actually get snail mail from different registrars to renew with them. LOL
tommyd 02-06-2006, 02:23 AM Yea I get those all the time as well, it should be illegal fool the un-knowing computer user into transfer registar.
Stan Marsh 02-06-2006, 08:42 AM We actually get snail mail from different registrars to renew with them. LOL
Those most probably are from droa.com, aren't they?
Being on-topic, if somebody from GD will ever call me, I'll hang up on him/her. This is a clear anoyance and even can't be called 'service'.
I guess people are just different. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would be annoyed by receiving a call reminding them of an upcoming renewal. It's not like it's a cold sales call from a telemarketer - you are already a customer. IMO, they're simply going the extra mile offering a personal touch - something that is rare nowadays on the Net.

messa 02-06-2006, 09:39 AM kinda off topic...
What about putting them in your outlook or web calendar or something aswell?
Webcalendars could actually send out an email reminder to you.
on topic
If they remind me they will be reminding me that I should transfer before I give them another year.
len fischer 02-06-2006, 10:05 AM I have been with Godaddy for several years. I have never received a call. Are you sure it was a legit call?
Aussie Bob 02-06-2006, 10:10 AM someone from godaddy just called
his name was kyle and he said he just wanted to let us know that we have some names up for renewal.
interesting.
anyone else doing that?
Nice touch if it's calling an existing client. :)
Stan Marsh 02-06-2006, 10:37 AM Are you sure it was a legit call?
Good question. Are you sure they are calling each and everyone out their 6+ million domain owners?
LinuxMaster 02-08-2006, 12:24 AM Someone calls you so you don't lose a domain that you are potentially using, and it's an annoyance? What if they called webhostingtalk.com because they forgot(and believe me it does happen, especially after 5 or 10 year registrations)... should WHT being mad? I don't think so....
People these days....
len fischer 02-08-2006, 06:51 PM If they are calling and it is for the purpose of customer service follow-up, this is good
