For 1 GB disk space most hosting providers charge about 7 - 10 per month.

For 1GB of disk sapce on a reliable server from a reputable company, I think you would be paying slightly more than $7.00 per month. 1000MB is an awful lot of disk space for a web site to take up. I would expect to pay upwards of $50.00 per month, and that's probably being conservative.

You can probably find a reputable host offering 1GB of space for around $20/month or so.

But when I think of sites that need 1GB of space, I think of sites that host video files etc, which would require massive bandwidth, and probably be better off on a dedicated server.

Gotta recommend a dedicated server in this case.

With myacen.com:
You get 1 GB of space and 20 GB of bandwidth. Translation... If you use your 1 GB of space or even close to it, you won't be able to have many visitors.

alwayswebhosting.com:
You get 60 GB but still if you have 1 GB of space, obviously it's a fairly popular site. 60 isn't going to cut it.

hostnexus.com it looks like the highest shared hosting they do is 350 MB of storage.

With www.iminteractive.net the person requesting this much space would have to get their top plan ($29.95/month) AND add to it (an extra $55/month to reach 1 GB of space)

A dedicated server is necessary in this case.

Where are you getting these numbers? They make no sense what so ever. How can you relate storage space to GBs of transfer in the way you did?

Well, aside from the amount of space you are looking for, key to giving you a price is how much transfer will be used. One idea may be to look into bulk reseller plans, since there are not many regular hosting plans that include 1GB of space.

The way I related them is a little weird but I looked at it from the viewpoint that most of the storage was videos/MP3's.

And each visitor would look at MOST of the videos.

IF you have 1 GB of space, even 60GB of bandwidth isn't enough. Not NEARLY enough.

Well, I'm not so sure about this. From my own personal habits, if I got to a site that has tons of sound files or videos, I look a few then move on to something else (and I have DSL, I'd imagine that dialup'ers don't look at all the videos on a site). Even if there's a really large selection, I'm not so sure that means people will take in the entire collection. As I said, this is from my own personal habits and maybe people do sit and click on every video.

My mother probably does this with all of the videos I have up fo the McNugget, but other than that... :D

OK

so going by your figures

a dedicated server with 60 GB using 50 GB of that

would need

erm

if 60 GB isn't enough ... for 1 GB

50 x 60 = 3000 GB

Me thinks you need to re-think

look at MChost they don't give lots of transfer with 1 GB disk space .. there must be reason for this

Data-transfer aint free .... with an average of $1.50 - $2 per GB

Anyways .. i listed the hosts to show what for what you need would be a good host

all 4 listen offer reseller plans ... i presumed you would have looked
