I'm experiencing something like 'domain not found' for all my .com/.net domains registered with namecheap... :( Stan Marsh 01-31-2006, 10:42 AM This is exactly how it looks: -bash-2.05b$ whois MYDOMAIN.com [Querying whois.internic.net] [Redirected to whois.enom.com] [Querying whois.enom.com] [whois.enom.com] We're sorry, there has been a problem. Code E3. -bash-2.05b$ whois MYDOMAIN.com [Querying whois.internic.net] [Redirected to whois.enom.com] [Querying whois.enom.com] [whois.enom.com] We're sorry, due to high demand on our WHOIS servers, your request cannot be processed. Please try your request again shortly. -bash-2.05b$ Anyone else experiencing this? enetwork 01-31-2006, 10:43 AM Enom is quite a mess at the moment and has been for the last 24 hours. They are having all kinds of issues and this is only one of them. silhouette 01-31-2006, 10:47 AM some names registered thru' last 24hrs missing from portfolio ....:( jsw 01-31-2006, 10:50 AM Ditto the above, eNom has been like a yo-yo all morning :-/ henker 01-31-2006, 10:50 AM I just tried to register a couple of domains - the order went through, however, no change of balance and # of registered domain names. Stan Marsh 01-31-2006, 11:12 AM Wow, never thought this could be so BAD... :( gerolsteiner 01-31-2006, 11:17 AM Domains I registered yesterday are still in my account but just not in the domain list. Try using 'manage this domain directly' at the bottom of the page to go to your new domains. It should take you to the control panel. Stan Marsh 01-31-2006, 11:19 AM Try using 'manage this domain directly' at the bottom of the page to go to your new domains. It should take you to the control panel. Will be use out of it? I don't think those changes I'll make will ever make to the registry. So, let's save the nerves and time... :) enetwork 01-31-2006, 11:29 AM Will be use out of it? I don't think those changes I'll make will ever make to the registry. So, let's save the nerves and time... :) Exactly, I wouldn't bother if I were you Stan. Their system is completely out of wack and that is putting it mildly. The most aggravating thing about this situation is that I personally called them yesterday evening to warn them about this and after not being aware of any issues they blamed it on the same replication issue that was hampering them earlier in the day. Obviously they took it seriously enough that they forgot about it and went home for the evening leaving everyone to fend for themselves. I tried calling them earlier and their mailbox was full. They'll have a very nice surprise waiting for them this morning. How a company that size does not provide 24 hour support completely escapes me. One of the VERY big drawbacks in dealing with them. Then why deal with such a company that puts your entire business at risk as all as all your current customers? Stan Marsh 01-31-2006, 02:03 PM Then why deal with such a company that puts your entire business at risk as all as all your current customers? What is the alternative for the NameCheap? DirectI? Their system is down almost monthly for 'profilactics'. WWD? In order to be calm, let me keep my mouth shut here... Get ICANN accreditation? Yes, and as far as I understand, they are working towards that. NameCheap has bought an ICANN-accredited company some time ago and it looks like I see the very promising future for them. On the other hand, I am VERY surprised too that eNom doesn't have 24x7 staff. Perhaps NOT support picking-up the phones, but heck, some sysadmins MUST be there around the clock!!! CD Burnt 01-31-2006, 08:10 PM if you regged a name and it does not show in your list, try the "go direct to this domain:" option (usually used by people with many domains). you can then see your domain details len fischer 01-31-2006, 08:29 PM Holy smokes, I did a whois on several of my names and I got errors. This is scary 24 hours and still not fixed B33R 01-31-2006, 08:35 PM My domains are all still in their lists at Namecheap and Enom (including a couple of new ones at Enom) Could've sworn my Namecheap domains were still working with whois earlier - guess not. This is getting a bit stupid now - Enom needs to get it together. MyNameSolutions 01-31-2006, 10:14 PM Any updates on this? I just tryed to reg a name and its not showing up. len fischer 02-01-2006, 01:03 AM Did enom ever say what the deal was? Stan Marsh 02-01-2006, 03:04 AM Did enom ever say what the deal was? You might want to check eNom's support center (http://smb.attenza.com/frontend/shared/frontend.aspx?ArticleID=&CategoryID=) from time to time... len fischer 02-01-2006, 09:27 AM Do they post outages? MyNameSolutions 02-01-2006, 10:52 AM They said it was a hardware problem and the system was still catching up. My order went through about an hour after I placed it, so I imagine they should be back to normal this morning. len fischer 02-01-2006, 11:42 AM As of last night it was still saying error messages dmaven 02-01-2006, 06:11 PM I also noticed a serious lag in handling a few names I renewed. bear 02-01-2006, 06:34 PM Same here. Just grabbed a name for a client, and it took about an hour to actually go through. Stan Marsh 02-02-2006, 01:44 AM Do they post outages? Yes, this outage was posted and followed/updated very well. dmaven 02-02-2006, 09:55 AM The whois lookup facility seems to be back to normal. |
