Does anyone know of a good recurring billing merchant account. Currently I am using paypal but I am ready to move onto something bigger and better as our company grows.

We are using the eProcessingNetwork gateway which includes free recurring billing. Authorize.net offers it too, but it's like $30 a month extra.

We are currently using CDG Commerce for our merchant processor and have been pleased with their service and pricing. So you might check them out.

You can definately check out CDGCommerce - www.cdgcommerce.com/wht/

Match them up with a license from ModernBill or ClientExec or WHMAutoPilot and you have yourself a finely tuned recurring billing machine ;)

I looked and it doesn't say anything about recurring billing on the link you sent for CDG, is it free with all the monthly charges?

What I meant, was that if you picked up a client management software package such as the ones I mentioned, they would store the information needed so that you would simply send it to the gateway each month when it needs to be processed.

As for their monthly fees, have a closer look. There is a statement fee and a monthly minimum depending on the package.

Hi destnj,

Recurring billing is handled one of two ways. You can do it with your billing software like VanHost suggested (Modernbill, ClientExec, etc), or you can do it at the payment gateway (like I suggested). Both Authorize.net and ePN offer recurring billing options, but with Authorize.net they charge an extra fee, where with ePN it's included in the price. CDG can set you up with either gateway, depends on your needs.

Thanks for the input. Ok so I am looking at a CDG package and they include authorize.net gateway for $15 a month. Will I be covered for recurring billing with this package or will it be the extra $30 as mentioned. In the packages for CDG I did not see EPN as a choice for a gateway.

I use LoudCommerce (http://www.loudcommerce.com) along with the Linkpoint gateway (http://www.linkpoint-gateway.com). LinkPoint does not charge me anything extra to use their recurring billing.

I pay about $15.00 per month for the gateway with no extra transaction charges.

My contract just expired on one merchant account that I did have a special 1.99% discount rate. I opted for their split rate of 2.27% credit cards and 1.94% for singature debit cards and started advertising that on my site. They have a minimum of $25.00 per month, but since the volume on that one merchant account is $45,000 a month, I am well over that of course for those fees.

I recommend using a gateway that handles the recurring for you. There is less you have to do for Visa/Mastercard CISP compliance and less liability.

Anyways, my company uses Pivotal payments for our merchant account, Cybersource for our gateway, Vital for our front-end processor, and Centralbancard for our back-end processor.

Cybersource has been having a ton of problems as of late and we are thinking about switching to a different company for our gateway.

Within the past month there have been numerous downtimes and issues with their recurring engine. This was an inconvenience to both me and my customers. Cybersource was actually over one week behind on processing recurring transactions at one point. Also, their support stinks. Took over one week on several ocassions to reply to tickets, phone hold time was 45 minutes at some points, and I never got calls back when promised.
