I am very intersted in using an oursourced tech support for my hosting clients (since I don't want them calling me at 4 am!) but use the PerlDesk helpdesk system and really want to continue to use it to keep track of all support requests by user.

Does anyone use the PerlDesk system with BobCares? Can they give support via this system?

Thanks for your help!

www.bobcares.com states that they prefer TicketSmith but they can and will work with any other good ticket system.

Bobcares.com is using PerlDesk with us. No problems at all.

Thanks for the responses guys. I looked at their website but must have missed it :D

Anyway... *off topic* why doesn't anyone using PerlDesk customize it? Everyone using PerlDesk that I've seen just sticks a logo on the default configuratioin and let's it go. Wouldn't you rather put PerlDesk into your site design layout?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

PerlDesk's default layout is very straight-forward and easy for clients to use.

I second that :)

Yeah, I see your point.

Nonsense, if you take a look at the perldesk forums (http://www.perldesk.com/board) there's lots of posts on how to modify the visual appearance and backend performance of the desk itself. We currently use a very heavily modified version of Perldesk, both in the user-interface, and major changes to some of the back-end workings, also.

Now I checked out your perldesk setup. How exactly is it heavily modified? You changed the header & footer and that's all as far as I can see.... it does look nice however.

What did you change in the back-end workings?

I was just asking why others didn't. I've completely customized the entire appearance.

In the templates you can edit the "default" template which is the OVERALL look of the helpdesk...

Mine looks EXACTLY like my site... navigation, images, tables, etc. and the helpdesk comes up right in the middle...

It was so easy I was wondering why others didn't do it too. :D
