For those of you who have CyberPixels as your host and domain host, would you reccommend them? It seems their web site is always down, but their deals are much better than HostRocket. I need some ideas before I switch hosts. Give me your thoughts!

People seem to have very good things to say about CyberPixels hosting. You could do a search on this topic and see what people had to say about them.

I discovered CP a couple of weeks ago. Obviously, their plans are pretty cheap. I'd say a bit too cheap.

I've noticed that they seem to have frequent downtime. (Both their company website/client websites have been down many times.)

So, they may be cheap, but do they provide quality hosting? Reliability?

As for their staff, it doesn't look as if they have a fully established support/tech team. Also, their CEO acts in a very un-professionalized manner. (Check out their forums in the members area.) I got the impression that she was a 12-year old working out of her basement.

I got the same impression, Synthetic.

their servers got attacked which is why they've been down off and on for the past week...

they have two people doing the tech support and they respond within an hour or two and usually also get the problem fixed within that time too.

as far as dealing with them professionally, they are very professional, unless they don't have to be. they cater to a cyounger crowd so shi often speaks to them in that manner ...she's never spoken to me that way. I chose them after a lot of searching, expecting the same reliablity that i got w/ dreamhost and service and have gotten better, with the exception of this past week.

Yes, I had realized that their client base revolves around a younger generation, and that they mainly host personal websites.

I might actually give them a try. Of course, I'm still going to wait a while until everything clears up on their side. (I do not want to jump in and then discover that I had made the wrong choice.)

I've been with many hosts in the past. Nowadays, I am very hesitant to sign-up with a host until I am assured that they are able to fulfill my needs.

I do manage an E-Commerce website, so reliability, uptime, and support are mandatory requirements.

Heh, looks can deceive. I believe Shi is in her mid-20s and Rebecca is 18. The environment at Cyberpixels is pretty casual. I mean, as long as you can understand the message I personally feel it's no big deal. I've had hosts that respond in all lower-case letters and improper punctuation (like im instead of I'm) and grammar.

Synthetic, maybe you can request for a trial account. They're pretty flexible about things like that. But if you're running a business, then I recommend waiting it out until things are running more smoothly again. Or you can go to a host that has been more established like Pair Networks or FutureQuest.

A great deal of their customers come from recommendations on teen boards like Dodo's, The Protagonist, Surreal, Meaningless, etc. Most of the customer base are girls ages 12-16. You should see some of the threads for recommendations for hosting on those forums..."unlimited" and "cheap" comes up alot. Personally I'm glad Cyberpixels is around for those kids who don't have much experience in choosing a webhost. They can concentrate on their sites and not worry about getting ripped off, like the cases with Hosturbo.

I've been with CyberPixels for a month. The outage this last week has been the first that I've been aware of. An outage could happen just about anywhere for any number of reasons from what I've read. So, with that said, I'd recommend them. And I'm not part of the younger crowd, though not yet close to being a senior citizen either.

I send them an email about 2 days ago, no reply yet. I don't want to get their services, if they wont work, what should I do?

You might drop by their forum and ask your questions there.

I'd personally suggest finding another host, or at least wait until they resolve all their technical issues.

I am currently monitoring their site through QWKMON. Today, they had experienced a total of 9 outages.

9 outages?? I'm hosted with them and the only outages was the server attact recently. I've been with them for 3 weeks now and that was the only major downtime.

I do agree is that Shi is casual in the forums. And that's because the people there are in their teens and run personal websites. She's just making them comfortable and not too "pro" with them.

They've been a great host for me. I was with aletia and support there wasn't as great as CP.

Ihave never been with them, but I've heard only good things. Yes, Shi's server was attacked, so there was some downtime, but it's still good. It's a very personal hosting company since the owner is just a regular person who one day decided that since there were no good, reasonable plans out there that were legit enough to buy from, she'd make her own hosting company :D

I also have positive feedback for CP. Even though they are going through a slight problem, it isn't anything to major. I always am able to talk with their support on AIM, and they always are very friendly and go out of their way to help me.

And for the younger crowd thing..I didn't really think they were, I dunno. I'm not too sure how people are getting this idea but it doesn't really matter, they're great ^^

From all the reviews I've read, they do seem pretty good.

Of course, CP would definately not be the right host for a business site or large e-commerce venture. (Mainly personal sites, fan-sites, etc...) - And I do believe that's their main customer base.

As for the recent problems they've been having, it IS something major.

Your site isn't of much use when it's not accessable... :crap:

I was with hosturbo.com for awhile and they used to be good but once again they turned into another tacid blue! I would think cyberpixels.com would be a great hosts for teens and its good that the teens know that they won't get screwed in the end.

That's right. We cater our services in with teens in mind, and ther services that they would most likely want to use. As well, our prices reflect what a teen would expect or want to pay.. I do not know many people my age who want to pay 19.95+ for hosting.
