View Full Version : Rackspace Special
porcupine 05-03-2002, 01:30 AM Ok people,
Well it's getting to be a weekly thing, but we've got extra time on our hands every .. uh, week almost :D, and we like to utilize it to offer specials. So anyhow, enough talk, here's what we've got to offer, this offer will be valid for 2 weeks only (edit: for new signups, the price will be permanent naturally), and this time it's rack pricing:
Full Rack (42U) - $625/mo, $500 setup
Half Rack (20u) - $300/mo, $150 setup
1mbps increments bandwidth - $70/mo.
5mbps increments bandwidth - $300/mo.
10mbps increments bandwidth - $500/mo.
APC Masterswitch (We buy, you own) - $275 one time
Technical support (onsite, offisite) - $40/hr.
And if you're interested in shelfspace, we will be providing it for $600/mo. (full shelf), $200 setup (same as full rack, slightly larger, solid steel), which supports approximately 16 midtowers, or 20 mini towers.
99.5% uptime guaranteed
Trace: sw1.prioritycolocation.com
Download Test: http://www.prioritycolocation.com/test.zip
All equipment installed in the first month will be included in the first setup fee, after that it will be setup at our regular rate of $40/hr.
If anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Same here. This is the first time if I ever went to their website where this has happened to me.
If anyone knows their contact number, I'd give it a call.
diederik 05-04-2002, 05:27 AM I've seen their their site go down quite a few times this month. A good thing is, is that they don't host their main site from their datacenter, so this doesn't mean their dc is unstable or something :D
Computions 05-04-2002, 09:15 AM Hi,
This is not meant to flame but I have serious reservations about choosing a company who's site is still down after this much time. Whether their box is in the datacenter or not doesn't matter, it just looks very bad.
porcupine 05-04-2002, 09:54 AM Ack, what timezone are you people in?! Yes, our site went down last nite and is coming back up within a few hours, i told my technician it was around 11:00 when it officially died (kernel upgrade gone bad) and not to bother driving out until morning (because he's already going this morning to setup some rackspace and give a tour, he might as well be well rested). You can always trace the site or sw1.prioritycolocation.com (66.250.24.2). Our main website is fairly low traffic, and customers generally dont care because it has no effect on the network or their site if we're down for a few hours during the night :).
BTW, diederik, yes, we do host from our dc.... Just we play with our box more then we should (it's a FreeBSD box we were trying to get the FreeBSD cpanel working on for a long time, that caused a lot of downtime unfortunatly... don't ever try CPanel + FreeBSD)
xnet - Our ip addresses range from $1.15/ea. to $0.55/ea/mo list, but are negotiable depending on what you need. If you want a quote, just give me a shout.
Regards,
diederik 05-04-2002, 09:57 AM Aah okay, though you hosted it somewhere else ..
I'm from Europe, just that you know which timezone I'm in :D
porcupine 05-04-2002, 10:12 AM Ack :), Yes, i noticed many of the replies were at like 5am my time *shudder*. I figure if computions hadn't mentioned, probably less then 5 people would have noticed :\ Oh well, no biggie as long as my precious customers don't get affected it doesen't bother me that much, our box seems to take lowest priority, which is ok by me :D

Get an old box for $89 and do the test there. Don't let your webpage goes down even 1 minute because you will never know whom (potential customer) you lost during that 1 minute.
just my $0.02
cheers,
diederik 05-04-2002, 11:07 AM Hey dektong, almost 2000 posts. Congrats

It's not because we wanted to test stuff out with that box, we tried to get a control panel, choose FreeBSD for stability, and couldn't find any control panels to go with it that were stable/functional unfortunatly.
dektong 05-04-2002, 12:15 PM HSphere works pretty well on FreeBSD and we use it because of this reason (and my partner does not want to use Linux, that is ;)). So, take a look at www.psoft.net, the control panel itself is incredible.
But again, you can always test the CPanel4 on another machine ... don't lose any potential customers because your site is down for minutes, not to mention hours.
BTW, does the price above include power cost? If so, how much power? Do you have 24/7 access to the facility?
cheers,
PS: yea, I am getting closer to 2000, but the last time I was very excite about my post count was when I reached 100, I think :D BTW, that means I have already server 1995 beers bythe time I reach 2000 ;)
porcupine 05-04-2002, 01:50 PM Ahh,
Thanks for the tip on FBSD panels. We used this server to test because we'd setup all the client ones as redhat because thats what it seems everyone likes a lot better. This does include power, a half rack gets 10 amps, and a full rack gets 20, a full shelf also gets 20 amps. Yes, we do have 24x7 access to the facility.
BTW, you're one post away from 2000, i'll catch you! :D
