I've seen some pretty stupid things done with domain names, but this one almost takes the cake -
So I'm listening to a radio station in the car the other night. It's one of the big FM radio stations in Brisbane. Then an ad for an internet company comes over. The ad was good, but they get to their domain name, and it's a freakin hyfenated .net with "maxx" as the last part of their domain. After they said the domain, they had to spell it out, with the "maxx" (note the double x there).
Who was the genius who came up with this domain? Are they deliberately trying to self sabotage themselves or what? They're branding a hyfenated .net with a "maxx" (short for maximum) as the second part of the domain. To make things 10 times worse, they don't own the .com, or the non-hyfenated or the "max" version, and here they are trying to build that brand on a very large FM radio station.
Madness I tell you. Pure madness. :eek2:
You'd think for a company of their size, that they'd have the common sense to at least brand the right domain name, and not some hyfenated .net.
So being the good Netizen I am  I email the company, and suggest that they change their main domain name, or at least register all the proper variants, and point them up to their current domain. I gave them a list of 20 domains to register. Got an email back from someone saying they're happy with their current domain, and they're not looking to register any other domains, and to stop spamming them.
What the . . . . ? :eek2:
