A neighbor of mine wants to create an online site for her home based photography studio. Does anyone know of a good PHP based program that can be used to upload tens of pictures at a time and create secure login access for a client to browse the results and select photos for printing?

What would even some good search keywords be for such a thing?

G2 gallery found at gallery.menalto.com. With extended modules and components you can enable password protected albums and even sell prints via paypal. I have seen many photographers use it as you are looking to do.

4images looks pretty professional when done up right [the site is in German, so I used Google Translator to link it up]:

For some reason, I've never have much luck using 4Images. My favorite is Coppermine Photo Gallery :)

I like Coppermine as well.

My only problem with 4Images is that for some reason it couldn't generate thumb nails while Coppermine can (both were tested on the same hosting account with GD 2 installed). Maybe I set it up wrong or something.

Yeah, I had trouble generating thumbnails, so I asked my host if she had the proper script [ImageMagick, etc.] installed.
