MilkMan 05-02-2002, 05:31 PM Seems that Bigmailbox is tightening up the wallet and ending it's free service per the email I just received

avara 05-02-2002, 07:15 PM Just got that email today as well... Almost a hundred bucks a month for 250 webmail accounts seemd kinda pricey too.
akashik 05-03-2002, 06:17 AM Seems the way of the world. We had a customer using everyone.net, who wanted to be swapped over to BigMailBox when everyone.net started to charge for service. Now he's just canned his freemail service as more and more drop off the free radar.
Greg Moore.

Wow, they gave you a date on when your account would be canceled? When I recieved my email, it said free email service would be suspended immediately.
I havent gotten an email yet. Are they making existing clients pay? I have just over 2000 clients, I would much rather throw them on my own server.
Chicken 05-03-2002, 11:29 AM While I've never used these guys, the pricing may be a bit closer to what you're looking for. If I was basing my business off of offering free email accounts, then maybe I'd be willing to pay good money, but if I did this, it would just be offering accounts for the heck of it, off domains that I couldn't figure out what else to use for...
Anyhow...

If anyone uses these guys, please comment on the service (as I make this recommendation quite blindly).

That seems a lot more reasonable than BigMailBox
Chicken 05-03-2002, 11:55 AM I agree. In the neighborhood of $100 (take $25), you get between 10,000-15,000-ish accounts, which seems more than reasonable. What I'm not sure of is the service (as we all know, spending $100 on something that doesn't work well isn't worth it either), as I've never personally used it, nor had anyone ever comment on it.
Manish 05-03-2002, 12:05 PM This service or that....they have to earn money. So ultimately, every service will either increase their charges or start charging. Nobody can offer it for free for long periods based on only advertising revenue (which we all know....clicks much less now if you don't plan it).
Unless they already have millions before they start the company :)
Speakerguy 05-03-2002, 04:20 PM I use(d) bigmailbox for my 2 domains, forums232.com and gamerz232.org
I dunno what im gonna do now! a hefty chunk of my traffic is from people checking email!
maybe I will just slop it on my server using web based mail or something....
Is there any way to limit the number of sign-ups? Just wondering.
They probably do that on their site, Lain.

Prices seem very good, only I doubt if the company will remain active for a long period.
But that's my feeling about it :)
Chicken 05-03-2002, 05:42 PM Well, according to windows, I bookmarked it Monday, June 04, 2001 so I dunno... they aren't brand-new I can tell you that. I can't tell you how long they'll last however :D
Skeptical 05-08-2002, 08:21 AM What's the maximum file attachment sizes (for incoming and outgoing mail) for bigmailbox and netmongol.com?
