Hi

Does anybody know of any good domain monitoring software that keeps a record of domains you have or want and shows who there registered with and when they expire etc

Ive gradually built up a small collection of domains now for various websites and projects and i seem to be buying even more now and i just cant keep track of them all!

Program to run on Windows XP..

Nothing too expensive, maybe £30 max, free would be nice though! :stickout

Thanks :)

Hrm, I also need one as I have about 30 domains and it's hard to keep track of when they all are about to expire and such.

Then again, maybe just typing them up into a spreadsheet would be a cheaper solution?

To be honest, I don't know why people feel there is a need for such custom software. Unless you have a really huge database (not vertically but horizontally with dozens of fields like keywords for parking and revenue tracking), simple spreadsheet like Excel will do the job more than fine. For those with thousands plus domains, perhaps you need a database program, but then again, Access will do.

What do you mean by 'reliable'? It doesn't hangs itself or hang my PC - that's for sure. Also, the results it gives are reliable (anyway, I haven't noticed any discrepances in dates, availability, etc). The downside is that it provides only gTLD functionality, leaving most ccTLDs out of it...

Frankly, I don't even understand people who are using spreadsheets and databases when a simple .txt file will do the job... But, the question was about a special program to track domains...

I am inclined to agree with nameslave. I use excel to keep track of my portfolio across several registrars and it works well.

Having 10k+ domains, like you, Excel is perhaps a good choice. For me, having 20-30 domains, a .txt file is doing the job well enough too.

The real chore is tracking PPC income across several sources. This is more of a challenge.

Yeah! I hand transfer the stats into the spreadsheet each month. It's a bit of a chore and I'm usually about a month behind. I'm thinking about trying some automating of this process from the .csv/excel files that the ppc companies provide, but just can't bring myself to get started on it, coz I probably need to switch to a database format, which I'm not too familiar with :(

Yes, I am using excel but it cumbersome when trying to run detailed stats

Hello,

This software should be very simple. If some people are interest, I will write one:)

I'll be happy to beta test it and provide input, if required.

I agree. I started off using Notepad in 1997. But to be honest, it then became insufficient (or at least less convenient) when there were not only more domains but actually more info fields per domain to track. I actually think Word should be fine for people with less than a couple of hundred domains, then Excel for most others (up to a couple of thousands), and finally Access for bigger players. Anything more than that is beyond a single person's capacity: don't try it at home. ;)
