The Forums would not let me post I kept getting this error message: You need five posts before being able to use any of this board's vB code features. Including smilies and linking to URLs.
I tried taking out the smilies and the colons and all and still nothing. I need 5 post to breathe on that forum.
and I see that u know what u r talking about so I decided to e-mail u.

I am haveing some probs with my Raq.

I know this is going to sound the same as a lot of post on here and at other forums but I have tried everything. I am sorry. Just not server friendly.

Ok, I have been working on this for aa week now checked all the forums I could find, tried some of there ideas. Nothing. I am having hell with this. I am tired, and about to throw it out the window.

All I want to do is setup a small server for myslef to play around with,

Here is what I got

Cobalt RaQ4, upgraded to 550 os That took some time, lol
All security patches installed, kernals would not load.

I am on a cable connection with dyn ip addy.
1 Microsoft MN-500 router.

I have registered a domain with dnsexitcom. Which I will be transferring someelse soon. Much better deals.

Anyway...

Current Network IP 72.24.54.64
Router IP 192.168.2.1, duh!
Cobalt IP 192.168.2.3
PC IP 192.168.2.26
Gateway IP used 72.24.52.1

registered domain is jhostingws com
alias: www, ftp

DNS IP Updater installed and running.

jhostingws is pointed at 72.24.54.64
Ports 80, 23, 21 are pointed at Cobalt.

I can ftp, no problem.
I can ping

jhostingws com
www jhostingws com
ftp jhostingws com

and get replies.

nothing when I type in www jhostingws com

also after updateing the security patches the LCD screen shows all kinds of scrambled letters and crap. cant read a thing on it. I have not yet updated the kernals if that has anything to do with it. 550 kernals would not load. Do I need raq4 kernals?

Any help would be much appriciated.

host name on Raq raq550
domain name jhostingws com

I think that is all the info u need, if u need more just ask. will tell. I will do anything to get this thing runnin.

Thank you,
Jeff Stoner Kewl name huh? God given, I love it!

Maybe your ISP blocks port 80 traffic?

No, I called and verified what ports they block. They were all in the high thousands.

Nevermind, its going out the window. I know I dont use the LCD screen all that much, but I do need it right now and cant. All it shows is a bunch of black boxes on the top line. I just recently upgraded the os, I found the correct kernals on one of these forums, ran them in order got 2 of them the 3 one would not load. it says corrupt or something. Under sys info the serial number comes up with (invalid cksum) ??? and now when I try to boot I get this crap.

Looking up port of RPC 100003/2 on 0.0.0.0
RPC: sendmsg returned error 22
portmap: RPC call returned error 22
Root-NFS: Unable to get nfsd port number from server, using default
Looking up port of RPC 100005/1 on 0.0.0.0

Root-NFS: Unable to get mountd port number from server, using default
RPC: sendmsg returned error 22

Root-NFS: Server returned error -22 while mounting /nfsroot-x86
VFS: Unable to mount root fs via NFS, trying floppy.
VFS: Cannot open root device "nfs" or 02:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 02:00
<6>disabling network interfaces.
Rebooting in 5 seconds..waiting for devices to flush..........done

After bfr

Checking filesystemsi2c core moduled: ru
okng
Mounting local filesystems XFS mounting filesystem md(9,2)076.hardware commandst
Ending XFS recovery on filesystem: md(9,2) (dev: 9/2)
XFS mounting filesystem md(9,4)
Starting XFS recovery on filesystem: md(9,4) (dev: 9/4)
Ending XFS recovery on filesystem: md(9,4) (dev: 9/4)
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on none,

But when I bfr I cen get it no prob. If anyone would like to throw some suggestions great, if not, its goin out the window along with the hard earned I through away one this piece of crap.

I have searched and searched websites, post, forums u name it, to try and figure this out, it is DOA. I can login just find, only by local IP though, cannot use http://raq550.jhostingws.com:login, get a blank screen. I can ftp into, no problem. Anyway, I am tired. I think I will just settle for a reseller account. Let them deal with the head aches. Plus it could be my router it is a Microsoft MN-500. I hate it. I doubt the stupid thing eve knows how to forward ports the right way. lol

Thanx,
Jeff SToner

Ok, I think I got a few of the bugs worked out. I had to find the kernal files for the 4 to 550 conversion. Found them in 2 differant places. Anyway, She is fully updated and running. I have made a few changes.

Host name www
Domain jhostingws.com
local ip 192.168.2.25

I changed the gateway IP from 72.24.52.1 - 192.168.2.1 which is the IP for the router, not sure if this is correct.
In the router setup UI the Default Gateway addy is 72.24.52.1.

Still get nothing when I type in www.jhostingws.com :-(

As for the LCD panel, I took the cover off to see if there was a bad connection or something. There wasnt so I just let it sit and it eventually just starting working, amazing. Anyway I am not complaining.

I just did a port scan to my network and it returned all TCP/UDP ports closed.

Damn Microsoft. Time to upgrade to Linksys, :)

Anyway, That may the prob right there, not sure. I will be back for more info later. Thanx!
