Dreamweaver was already the best design tool. I got my hands on the BETA a while back, and all I can say is that it is amazing. It is a definite must upgrade for those who like dreamweaver. I am telling you, it will make your life much much easier.

Has anyone gotten a beta version of Fireworks MX yet (and used it)? I'm curious to know what's different on it if anything.

Flash MX is great. I can't wait to see what Fireworks MX, my favorite image slicing tool, will be like.

Not a very big difference in Photoshop 7. I like the file browser though, and the customizable layouts.
Flash MX is a little nicer too. I haven't really played with it yet but I like the layout.
I'll be trying out Dreamweaver MX soon!

*lol* Macromedia isn't too bad (compared to Adobe), but both are worth the money considering the time saving value they offer (ok Photoshop is a 4 year apprenticeship but it's worth it).

If I had to hand code some of the sites I do I'd end up rocking with my head in my hands screaming - I'm a far more visual person than a coder.

Having said that, I recently upgraded to ver 4 for dreamweaver and fireworks, and have had flash 5 since it came out, and photoshop 6. I think it'll be a while before I upgrade again unless they're somthing pretty special.

well the old one was $380 (full) $150 (upgrade) approx, so I'd expect them to be close to those prices.

well i tried flash mx a while back, took it off my pc coz the program was too crowded in my 800x600 r.

my recommendations is that only use flash mx when u have a atleast 1024x768 r.

i don't know about dream and fire.

They'll be the same. I recently moved up from 800x600 to 1024x768, and they're designed for that res as a minimum. I'm sure we agree on the palette moving you have to do at 800 res at a constant rate for lack of real estate.

I was talking to a guy the day before yesterday that has a good rate for 19 inch monitors, and I'm thinking of taking him up on it, just to reduce palette size. :)

Find a college student who's ID you can borrow to buy from their campus store. They usually have huge discounts. For example, whenever I need software, I borrow a friend's student ID and buy from the Standford Bookstore. I got Photoshop for $299 that way. The Dreamweaver/Fireworks combo was $149 I believe.

I just got a Beta 3 version of dreamweaver MX - code named Kojak. It's great! I really like what they did with the new workspace. It's a lot better organized and easier to move around in. The properties window is now default set at the bottom of the screen and can be moved around as the whole layout can be customized. It really like it. Too bad it expires in 42days :(
