View Full Version : Cafe press...
Santoman 05-02-2002, 12:09 PM Hi Folks -
I have recently setup an account with Cafe press, to do some nice graphics stuff, to help promote my company.
I like them, but the cost is a bit high on the items they offer, and they don't have a big selection of items, since I think they are fairly new.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else has some suggestions on where I could look online to get things like, t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers, static stickers, etc.
Thanks,
Steve
Hostnix 05-02-2002, 01:08 PM New? Not at all new... They've been around for at least 3 years.
You'd think that in three years they would have more products to offer, but they don't. It's depressing.

Ok, I guess NEW was the wrong term to use, since I was just out there a few minutes ago, and noticed they had been around since 1999!!!
I have also sent off mail, asking my dive club treasurer, who they use for getting shirts and stuff, since she had a catalog from someplace at our last meeting...

Avail 05-02-2002, 02:44 PM Cafe Press does cheesy iron-on transfers for shirts. Pretty low-quality stuff. If you want my reccomendation, I would get a screen printing kit. Low end (but pretty good) ones made by Speedball cost around $50 (though other supplies you need to buy bring this cost up), and Dick Blick makes a very good screen printing kit for $300.
The cheapest way to go would just be to buy trasnfer-paper from your local electronics store, print the design yourself, and iron it on to shirts that you buy in bulk. That's essentially what Cafe Press does, but you'd be doing it for about $10 cheaper per shirt.
scslawin 05-02-2002, 03:37 PM Or I could do it for you on high quality double-layer stock using the superior dye sublimation process.
BTW: There's a reason why Cafe Press has a limited choice of products.

GnomeyNewt 05-02-2002, 03:49 PM You can try http://www.gopromos.com
I've never used them, but they seem to have stuff that is reasonably priced. And they have a bunch of stuff. If you try it, let me know what you think.

Wow, just took a look at gopromos.com. Very nice site. I think I might give them a try on a product or two, and see how they do.
Thanks for the pointer!
I'm just looking for something I can throw out there to get business going. It's starting to get a bit frustrated, and, to be honest, I'm more of a techincal guy (OpenVMS Rules!) than I am a marketing/sales guy, although I do know financials, because of supporting them over the years...

adland 05-02-2002, 08:29 PM Do a search for "promotional items" on google.
Santoman 05-02-2002, 10:13 PM Ok, wow... There are TONS of these promotional type sites. I found a company that is fairly local as well (NH), so I think I might give them a try.
Thanks for the replies, and if anyone has any other ideas of companies they've used, please feel free to post them. I really liked that gopromos.com site. Very nice!
Thanks!
Steve
