HasGreatDane 01-20-2006, 06:34 AM You'll find the answers to both questions if you search the forums here. There are a number of threads on resellerspanel and also on various reputable resellers. I'm happily hosted by Bluewho, but there are several other well-established hosts too.

By going with ResellersPanel, you'll have a lot of extra restrictions on your hosting business and much less freedom with the types of accounts you can offer. Be sure you research the entire resale process with ResellersPanel. Plenty of reviews on them can be found here through a search.
Lumix 01-20-2006, 07:50 PM As far as I can see, it doesn't cost anything to sign up and be an affilliate. What do you have to lose? Give it a shot.
ldcdc 01-20-2006, 08:54 PM Also what are some other good resellers???There aren't many providers with Resellerspanel's type of program, if that's what you're looking for. Added to that, I don't know of any that pricing level.
You really need to take a close look at the difference between what resellerspanel if offering and what the more conventional reseller hosting providers offer. There are advanatages and disadvantages with both.
As far as I can see, it doesn't cost anything to sign up and be an affilliate. What do you have to lose? Give it a shot.Being an affiliate is not the same thing with being a reseller. For one, it takes a completely different marketing approach. :)
Trophimus 01-21-2006, 08:51 AM ResellersPanel is good to start. They now offer you to create your own plans with some wizard thing, which is very cool, having this be a free program. But of course, there are cost/price restrictions as to what you can charge your customer.
Its a quick and easy way to get your host up :).
Cheers,
Jeffreyw 01-21-2006, 09:23 AM Their tech supports reply fast.
myhken 01-21-2006, 09:58 AM And they have good server uptime. I uses them as a backup storage, and are very happy with them.
The drawback for anybody who wants to resell, are all the other resellers out there from the same place.
If you look at hosting offer forum, you can see at least 10-15 different hosts, offering the same plans, for diffrent prices.
And you can never offer a plan under the minimum price resellerpanel sets.
But as other write, they have fast support, and good servers....so far.
i-devs 01-21-2006, 12:23 PM The ability to create your own hosting plans and pricing will help to eliminate the concern that myhken has mentioned, which has been a big issue.
The free reseller program is not an affiliate program, though there is an affiliate element setup.... many want to label resellerspanel as nothing more than an affiliate program, that it isn't real reselling... yes, they have introduced a very unique and different program to the market, but it would be wrong to label this as just an affiliate program.
They now also offer more traditional cPanel programs as well as dedicated servers that you will be able to offer your customers.
Especially getting started, it is worth looking at. Where you go from there is up to you.
Lumix 01-21-2006, 03:36 PM You sell hosting for resellerspanel, the buyer pays resellerspanel, resellerspanel then sends you your mark up. Sounds like an affiliate program to me.
Beysic Media 01-21-2006, 03:46 PM I use Lpanel to manage the hosting division of my business. It works great. It has automated billing and payment processing.
ldcdc 01-21-2006, 08:17 PM Sounds like an affiliate program to me.Not your typical affiliate program though. I'd say it's a combination of the two concepts (reseller and affiliate), a combination that makes it very easy to setup a hosting brand.
One question I would have is, will the customers be mine? If later on I decide to break away from resellerspanel and get my own servers, how easy will it be for me (as a reseller) to take my customers and move them to my server? Is that even possible?
And you can never offer a plan under the minimum price resellerpanel sets.Thank God for that limitation! :)

Granted, these are the most important issues with this kind of setup, but there's one more: will I be able to reply to some of my customers' tickets if I decide to, or will I be able to at least review them? If not, then they are definitely not my customers.
RajanUrs 01-22-2006, 07:33 AM Actually there are several options in ResellersPanel
1. Preconfigured reseller site [with selection of 16 templates] with 2 preconfigured hosting plans. [Reseller can vary prices but there is a minimum and a maximum.]
2. Preconfigured reseller site [with selection of 16 templates] with custom plans [upto 18 custom plans can be created]
3. Custom site [your own website design] with all of the hosting and domain registration [on a Direct Order form in HTML code.....which any webdesigner can easily integrate to the rest of your site] Support can also be your own or Resellerspanel or both.
4. A custom site of your own with your own payment and order forms and support [the orders can be later setup manually in Resellerspanel]
NOTE: The affiliate program earns 10% from all sales from new resellers you promote. The hosting plans has a fixed purchase price but you can resell at any price level between a fixed minimum and a maximum.
Quite good for a free reseller account..........wish it was the same with their Cpanel reseller too. Free Cpanel reseller accounts ? LOL

Looks like Resellerspanel could do more to put this info in front of prospective customers. I for one never knew there were so many options.
