View Full Version : which of these CPs is the most user friendly?
Chang Lee 05-02-2002, 03:58 AM from the point of a reseller only who intends to host his sites on a virtual server, which of these control panels are the most user-friendly with great features?
ENSIM
H-SPHERE
PLESK
C-PANEL
anymore control panels out there worth looking into?
Paul-UKWSD 05-02-2002, 04:01 AM We use Cpanel and find it very good, our customers like it too :)
NinthSwat 05-02-2002, 06:50 AM CPanel.
We use both Cpanel and Plesk but most customers seem to prefer Cpanel...
puggy106 05-02-2002, 07:09 AM yup, definetly CPanel, its so easy too use!
matrosov 05-02-2002, 10:24 AM H-sphere :)
Our users loving it. Requires some work and knowledge on the back end though, but support by psoft is very good so its not a major issue.
Everyday 05-02-2002, 10:28 AM H Sphere's new version 2.1 control panel is amazing. Very easy o use for the end user and very attractive.
dektong 05-02-2002, 10:30 AM HSPhere 2.1 is not out yet, am I right?
cheers,
NetGeek 05-02-2002, 10:30 AM I only used CPanel and it seems ok. And knowldgable customers seem to ask for it.

Plesk. We used CPanel before (a while ago) and our customers prefer Plesk for user friendliness and professional look. But I heard that the new CPanel is wonderful and a lot better than the previous version.
Plesk is very stable, fast and secure and it has full features for reseller. You can create unlimited domain names, email, etc and split the space just like you want it. Very flexible. I would highly recommend it. :)
ImHosted 05-02-2002, 10:53 AM Are you talking about H-Sphere for Windows or Linux???
matrosov 05-02-2002, 11:01 AM We are using Hsphere 2.097 2.1 is still in its beta testing. As far as I know Hsphere is a Linux application but you can manage windows servers with it.
Everyday 05-02-2002, 11:08 AM We are beta testing it :D :D :D
ClineCOM 05-02-2002, 11:10 AM We would strongly suggest CPanel for user friendliness.
Plesk is a good program, but lacks the intense graphical interface and isn't quite as easy for the average Joe to comprehend.
CPanel is quite advanced and there are SEVERAL skins and add-ons out there for CPanel.
You can find skins for CPanel and Billing software that will integrate itself in with CPanel.
matrosov 05-02-2002, 11:17 AM Everyday, You lucky devil you:crying: . How is it? Is it good? Is it stable? Are there many bugs?
Everyday 05-02-2002, 11:29 AM The few days after the upgrade there were some small bugs but nothing really major. A few customers found a few things, we had notified everyone we were upgrading. They all were excited to be involved in the testing which made it easy to find bugs and typos, etc... Psoft has unbelievable support and they had everything fixed the next day. We found a few other things here and there but all in all it is great. This is by far the best control panel on the market.
It has more options standard than anything else and Psoft is constantly adding and upgrading features.
you know where my vote is :)
Matt Lightner 05-05-2002, 12:52 AM In my opinion, Cpanel can do everything needed for almost any webhost, is simple to use, and customers love it--but I may be a bit biased. ;)
++Charlz++ 05-06-2002, 10:06 PM Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like CPanel does not run on windows 2k...
MrLister 05-07-2002, 01:30 AM CPanel is easiest to use but however i consider it to be "buggy." Ensim's releasing 3.1 on June 4th which I believe should be of a lot better standards.
iamdave 05-11-2002, 01:24 AM CPanel is probably the easiest to use, but I personally like the features of PLESK.
avara 05-13-2002, 07:16 AM For the end user anyway, CPanel is probably the easiest to use by far. Not to mention you can install and even create custom themes, meaning you're not stuck with what is provided as is the case with Ensim.
Now if Ensim add more features such as reseller accounts, custom themes and the ability for users to add more mySQL databases themselves, they may be on to a winner. However if HostGUI once released is all that Jag is promising, they'll be too late.

It is out to beta user, but not the general market.
I have used plesk, Cpanel, hosting controler. I got to review ensim and the Zeus control panel.
overall each panel has it's up's and downs.
Hosting control I would tell everyone to run away from.
Cpanel has a very friendly and customer side interface so the learning curve is quick.
Plesk is slightly more difficult but again ok.
Zeus I loved because of some odd ball features that perfected for people that desire certain odd ball features. otherwise it's a ver good unix based panel ( if I ran unix only that would be my platform )
ensim... bahh did not like it at all
and H-sphere
well the h-sphere discussion would be long, so let me sum it up.
1) client learning curve is steep, they need to rewrite the manual, some uses ( like myself and a few others ) are working on adding extra FAQ's to make life easier, but again we have to wait till 2.1 is out before we even attempt to take the project full steam.
2) Support servies from P-soft, overall good to great. If you are in a panick situation, one of the guys from p-soft will help you or if you post a help request ( and you provide the data to show that it is a panick ) you will most likely get someone whom is a web host to bail you out of the problem. Our loyalty to the product is very high.
3) bug fixes. very fast
4) 2.1 release will inprove the client side by many folds. on average I would say that it takes a client about 4 days to learn the basics, when 2.1 is out, then I think it will drop to 1 day.
5) admin side. Damm if I can not state this enough. Read the god damm manual. more problems are presented because people are not reading the manual ( myself included ).
there is a huge learning curve, you are more or less siting behind a true, full power ( all your servers ) administration panel for uses. You are GOD, at a whim you can terminate accounts and make things happen at the admin level ( not the root level, but real close )
I think, I can safely say that it took me 5 weeks to get it down correctly, I can now say that I'm an above average admin ( no way near pro user ).
6) updates and upgrades. the past few months we have many updates. I believe 1 every 7 weeks more or less. bug killing has been on the top, now there are few bug if any. the current one that everyone is waiting on is 2.1 that will be a full upgrade with some real hard core features.

Selpaw 05-14-2002, 01:29 AM CPanel is the easiest panel. Plesk is difficult to navigate and has little features. Ensim is ok, but has problems with log files.
I agree that the most user friendly panel is Cpanel but it is not the most stable.
I love ensim for its stability and backup features. I can backup all domains to a remote server each week easily in a matter of seconds. (Just initialize backup and you will receive confirmation log by email).
Also I think ensim is more stable.
Plesk is a simple and good control panel but I think it will won the prize of the most ugly interface of the year :) If they can imrove its appearance and navigation features it will become one of the most popular panels.
And it seems it is stable and secure enough.

humantag 05-14-2002, 03:22 PM I reseller USonyx VPS services and they use HSPcomplete...I love both the reseller and end-users control panels.
