their virtual server offerings seem too good to be true. whats the catch, if their is any.
i get the impression that this is a genuine and sizeable company... but i would like the opinions of other more experienced hosts and users before i give them my money.
i notice that they charge 15 pounds (about 22 dollars) per every 1 gig of bandwidth exceeded.
well, if this is how they many their profits, then its quite fair. everyone has to make money somehow. but what i want to know is if their bandwidth metering is suspicious ?
thanks in advance. the forum members here are the greatest in offering advice!

All I can tell you for certain (i.e. not hearsay) is my experience of them.
1. When I cancelled my account I asked them to move my domain names to a new IPS TAG and new nameserver.
2. They cancelled my account almost immediately but didn't move my domains.
3. I e-mailed then at least half a dozen times in the week following that but they ignored every one of them.
4. After about 10 days I had to take some action, so I forcibly transferred my domains to another IPS TAG. I still, however, need a domain admin contact to change the nameservers. Donhost has deleted the domain admin contact email.
5. After 10 days I finally get a response from Donhost saying it's not their responsibility any more as the IPS TAG has changed (how convenient of them to respond when they can no longer do anything about it).
6. I ask them to reset up my account so that I can at least email the domain admin password to myself, pointing out that I really am paid up until the end of the month anyway. They refuse.
7. I thank my lucky stars I got away from this shower before going 'live' with my hosting business.
Your choice, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Do a search on Donhost. I don't think you will find any positive posts about them, unless they're very old. :unhappy:

If you are looking for virtual server, why not go for a cheap dedicated at rackshack. You got whole root access and everything to your own with your own dedicated server.
