View Full Version : Got another reseller host - MKOH.COM
Aurelian 01-17-2006, 08:27 PM Hello there,
I said another host as i still gonna keep varhosting.net. They're great, undoutable.
I got attracted by the super offer of MKOH with 20gb space and 200bw one at only 55/year. Quite too good to be true. Still... what if it's true?
I never seen complaints on them for the specials they advertise.
I mailed them and got fast response. When i regged all worked fine and smooth. I got email saying that i must wait 24 hours at most for the account to be created. I am still waiting, ill keep you updated.
Have a nice day.
StackHost 01-17-2006, 08:32 PM Well, it appears they have been around since 2003, so they have staying power. Let us know how it goes in a few months.
ldcdc 01-17-2006, 08:46 PM I got attracted by the super offer of MKOH with 20gb space and 200bw one at only 55/year.Considering we know how much servers cost to be kept in a good datacenter, the offer, especially for resellers as they tend to use high % of what they buy, seems quite unreal. On the bright side, even if you get only 1 month of good service, you're already getting your moneys' worth. :D

They don't offer money-back guarantee for resellers' plans! On the other hand, they offer it for basic plans!!! Can anybody explain this?!

It's their policy, why not ask them?
Aurelian 01-18-2006, 05:04 AM They offered money back on this Special. At least that\'s what they're saying in the ad on WHT.
Well... let's continue the review. I went to sleep last night as it was 3 am. I have diff timezone then mkoh. I received emails this morning. All was ok. Quite much emails (6) hehe. Anyway, now im waiting for the setup of nameservers which i saw advertised as "your own nameservers" and got theirs instead in the email. Few features are missing in the WHM which i usually use, but also sent support email to fix that. 1 thing i dont like on them is i cannot find a support page with some live support or ticket type support.
Server looks fine. Low usage, 4 CPUs (dual xeon), a lot of free space on it. Can-t complain at all right now, excepting the nameservers stuff which im expecting to get fixed.

But if they give you one month of good service, and later give you some downtime here and there, then later dissapear with all your data. No matter how much you save, it isn't worth it.
My take, yes, it is true that they have been around for a while, but for that price, I'm not trusting it. Just me though ;)
Aurelian 01-18-2006, 10:31 AM I am checking server usage and all seems normal.
There were like 5 minuts with 9,xx server usage. How bad is that?
Also i requested some modifications and they did it. Now im waiting for domain nameservers to register.
Till now it's really nice. I'm not regreting anything right now.
ScottJ 01-18-2006, 11:35 AM Good luck with them. I got a client awhile back that lost all their databases when mkoh mysql system became corrupt (not sure how). That was months ago, perhaps they picked up their service.
Aurelian 01-18-2006, 12:02 PM I am doing my own backups. I try to do backups after each modifications. It's like... no company can guarantee 100% backups.
I dont take their part, and i blame them for the loss of those backups or anything like that, but the client has to take care too.
Sorry for that dewd.
ldcdc 01-18-2006, 06:56 PM But if they give you one month of good service, and later give you some downtime here and there, then later dissapear with all your data. No matter how much you save, it isn't worth it.Maybe... I think it depends on the type of account usage. If I were a teenager hosting my friends' hobby websites for free and they would keep backups (essentially knowing we might move at any moment), it can very well be worth it.
Starting a business off a super cheap reseller account is not worth the risk - I agree with you there. :)

You can't back up your mysql databases on the fly, can you?

But,
1st, if you are paying yearly, it might not be worth it.
2nd, it would be so much trouble to move hosts every few months
3rd, your probably aren't using that much space anyways ;)
Instead, if you get a host with decent features/price ratio, and you might just stick with it for a few years.
elvenrayne 01-19-2006, 11:41 PM My friend is on their reseller account.. they are good sometimes and bad sometimes.. i have one site hosted with them and they will definetly go down 'atleast' once a week.. that's all i can say..

Haha, amen to that, encore! :)
Lumix 01-20-2006, 08:02 PM Paying Too Much for Your Hosting ??? Here At MKOH our motive is to provide the best possible price to our clients. Price is always one of the primary factor in a persons mind when he is looking for a web host. Here at MKOH we promise to give you the best value for your money. But one should always remember one thing & that is You Get What You Pay For !
Thats taken from http://mkoh.com/hosting.html
And it's true and I give them credit for putting that on their page. They are actually telling you not to expect to much with their budget hosting planes.....
While I applaud them for their honesty, I'm not so sure that's reassuring if I was a client.
Aurelian 01-31-2006, 07:59 PM Oki... got updates.
After several checkings i found out that the server i'm on, same as their own site, has good uptime. Only one time i encountered down time and that was for like.... 2 minz at most.
I asked for some modifications on WHM, Joey made em. THX :))
Today i requested X-Reseller usage, meaning that i wanted to take out of my account a sub reseller. Done that too :) - Thx again Joey
Now i'm on last hundred meters with configuring.
Only thing i don't really like right now is the missing of anonymity. Right now you aint anonymous as a reseller because if anyone checks for server of ip they can usually find mkoh.com. They could use a fake domain la varhosting are using... I mentioned varhosting as i'm also using their reseller too. Another minus is that i'm missing RVSkins. But that's quite ok for me as my clients aren't requesting me that.
That's all right now. All you guys have to know is that i wouldnt hesitate second neither time if i would be to reg again with mkoh. They're really OK.
I'll keep you guys updated.
hostingcamel 02-01-2006, 05:39 PM I have had some experience with MKOH for a half a year. Their uptime is not so good and their server speed is also not that great. I could say that their support answering time is 2-28 hours. They changed the main domain for reseller when i asked, they have been open on setting x-reseller acounts and at overall they are very good, but then again you get what you paid for(like they say). If you have some more money you should probably go with the more expensive option but if you dont MKOH will not dissapoint you(if you dont have 100% uptime and dedicated server speed expectations :) ).
technician 02-05-2006, 03:41 PM I'll just chime in here. Within the past week I ordered a reseller account with MKOH. The account was completely setup within 12 hours (including the nameservers being changed). Support is great, I haven't had a ticket go past six hours. Server speed is also good, I can easily achieve over 150K/sec on downloads. Uptime, however, is not so good. I'm guessing HTTP goes down at least once a day. I emailed them about their HTTP daemon (it seems as though it's a software problem) once and they fixed it for a couple days, but it's back to the same old thing.
If their uptime was better they would be the best host I've been with so far!
Aurelian 02-05-2006, 08:50 PM im currentyl satisfied. I dropped the X-Reseller thingy. It simply... su**s. You can not offer overselling on those, so no one will buy it. Right now i'll keep the space for normal sites hosting. That's all.
I got a new account on ResellerZoom. There's really nice :) Till now i'm happy there. I'll keep all accounts anyway, for now.
Saskia 04-14-2006, 01:49 PM I have sent them emails on my email account questin....no reply for a WEEK!!!
Cool Surfer 08-16-2006, 11:16 AM My take, yes, it is true that they have been around for a while, but for that price, I'm not trusting it. Just me though ;)
I have accounts with them. And I dont think there is any major problem with their
service. Worth giving it a try.
the main guy is pheliex@mkoh.com
Check him out.
blackart 08-22-2006, 12:03 PM I personally have experience with mkoh. the registration was fast, hell yeah.. incoming cash receipt, who did not want that.. after that I got only mySQL down almost all the time. I send so many ticket, and the reply was simply "should be working" and if you go to the support page, you'll notice that the title of the page was "welcome to your hostname support". They even did not modified it, pretty lazy..
I appreciate thei effort though, but it's just frustrating when you got MySQL down almost all the time. I have my money refunded now (thank you pheliex). Last time I know, the down was due to a never ending synflood. Good luck to you pheliex, sorry if I have to say this
Cool Surfer 08-22-2006, 02:53 PM Some tech problem I guess. No one wants a bad name.
winabe 08-23-2006, 05:18 AM MKOH got hacked or is it an old issue ????

Cool Surfer 08-23-2006, 05:38 AM everybody doing good in business gets hacked :)

Even microsoft, NASA sites get hacked. Yahoo the giant gets hacked. Whats the big deal. Anyone can get hacked.
A determined Hacker will manage to get in, no matter what.
blackart 08-23-2006, 10:09 AM I agree with you Cool Surfer, but countinuously got synflooded for almost two weeks?? Duh...
tlinu 08-23-2006, 10:30 AM Aurelian seems to be a "Total" crazy... and a good advert of mkoh.com
mkoh.com took 15.828s to load in Firefox on my DSL 128kbps Net Connection;.
Cool Surfer 08-23-2006, 04:00 PM Ya their server is awefully slow. Hope they recover fast.
