You know all those nice looking flash sites on the web, are they hosted on a linux server or window server? what does the server need to host the flash and such?

All the server needs is the MIME type (.swf) If the server recognizes what it is then that's all there is to it. Flash and Shockwave movies are played client side (in the browser, not on the server), so if whoever is looking at your page has the flash/shockwave plugin then you're away.

Most servers should come out of the box recognizing flash and shockwave now (or at least as ready too as jpgs and gifs), so pretty much anything should suit you.
