I'm wondering what a good dollar amount is to get people interested in signing up with hosting :) I started at 10 got a few then went to 15 - but to really sell what do I need for an amount per sale on an affiliate program?

$10 is a nice ammount,I think what you should do is offer various benefits aswell other then money e.g earn free hosting etc etc. What i have seen alot of hosts do is after people sign up they automaticly become part of the refferal program and depending on which plan they are on,a certain ammount of refferals each months makes their hosting free.

As for a 'nice amount?' $10 seems very fair but it really depends on our situation. We've tried several incentive programs. We finally found a happy medium with one that allows for both time and money depending on the type of contract. For us, we looked at how much it costs us to get a client via advertising and then based the incentive on that. As a result, our referrals start at $5 in hosting credit and go up to $60. As a result, we have clients who don't have to pay for hosting but we earn a much better and more loyal customer base.

Best of luck in the challenging industry called hosting.

I use phpmanager. How would I keep track of this? And how would I credit their account after they reach a credit amount equal to their bill or should it be wise to apply a credit each month to the # of referrrals given.

Many web hosts offer $20-$25 per signup, so $10 is a little low. Of course it depends on the level of hosting you offer and how well you convert visitors into buyers. $15 is acceptable, but I would consider an increase to $20 if $15 does not attract many affiliates.
