View Full Version : Best Open Source Control Panel
WHC - Travis 01-15-2006, 01:52 PM I am going to start a Linux/Free BSD server just to gain more experience on server control. Unforchunately, for this price I don't really see myself buying a Plesk or Cpanel liscence.
What is THE BEST Open Source Control Panel available today?
Thanks.
I was looking at:
http://www.web-cp.net/
Patrick 01-15-2006, 04:44 PM I'd have to say web-cp... it's pretty slick. :)
Xoopiter-Craig 01-15-2006, 08:37 PM I'd have to say web-cp... it's pretty slick. :)
I'll have to be giving that a try on my test server :-)
Thanks
eth00 01-15-2006, 10:44 PM webmin is pretty nice too, while it is not as flasy as some it is extremely stable and a very mature software

Hmm looks good, but basic. Are there any other control panels with more features?

which particular features which you require are missing from DirectAdmin ?

Email features, image tools, scripts, but I guess that's part of what you pay for with the lisenced panels.
gplhost 01-16-2006, 09:48 PM Hello,
You can try our web hosting control panel here (http://www.gplhost.com/software-dtc.html).
It's open source, works very well under Debian, and an old version is available in /usr/ports/sysutils/dtc if you use FreeBSD 5.3.
Are you willing to help in the development? We need brains to update the FreeBSD tree!!!

That's a very nice control panel you have there.

I don't know much about Free BSD, but I guess I could give it a shot.
submenu 01-17-2006, 04:09 AM http://vhcs.net looks really nice. However they don't appear to support BSD yet:

I didn't know DA was open source, is it?

No, DirectAdmin is not open source... it costs around 20-29$ a month depending on your provider.
WHC - Travis 01-20-2006, 07:30 AM Blue quartz didn't look nearly as good at the previous suggestions, the demo of the interface did not impress me, neither did what it had to offer.
