View Full Version : what's up with registerfly.com
a7tech 01-15-2006, 09:16 AM I have been trying to register 15 domains but got the message saying that registration of 9 of them failed. I tried again and got 5 of 9 domains registered (4 failed). I tried again and again with no success. And now it says that my account does not exist!
Unable to locate user account [my username], please try again. If you are unsure of your password please use the lost password facility below.
I sent a message to their support. No response yet though...
fewcoin 01-15-2006, 12:11 PM I get the same message too.
"Due to new security guidelines we require all passwords now to be strong and of a minimum length".
So what happens to our present passwords, and what is acceptable?

a7tech 01-15-2006, 12:29 PM Hmm... If you compare the message I quoted above and what does it say now - it changed and looks incomplete. Seems that they are performing upgrade or something.
They could inform their customers in advance at least...
fewcoin 01-15-2006, 12:49 PM RF just sent me new, longer password and it works!

a7tech 01-15-2006, 01:17 PM Did you request the new password?
I clicked that password retrieval link, it opened a popup but it does not load (hangs forever).
radiofm 01-15-2006, 01:34 PM hello
i also can't login to my account at registerfly !
i also request a new password but i can't recived any emails
(sorry for my bad english)
dmaven 01-15-2006, 02:28 PM I logged in without issue. I think if you had a weak password they changed it otherwise your existing password works fine.
fewcoin 01-15-2006, 03:27 PM I clicked on the password retrieval form and it did nothing. That's all I did and they emailed me a new password.

dntycoon 01-15-2006, 06:07 PM I have had some problems with their service as well, I think they do alot of their services manually.
a7tech 01-16-2006, 04:23 AM Now their website shows just "Unable to connect" and nothing else :( And still no reply neither to my support ticket nor to my email to their risk department (their password retrieval page said that my account have been restricted).
nadezhdazz 01-16-2006, 04:49 AM I just tried to get to registerfly's site and I got the "cannot connect" thing too. I'm from the UK.
They must be having temp problems.
dmaven 01-16-2006, 05:18 AM The site seems up. I think their risk dept is open only during business hours. You can also try to pm member regfly here who works for RegisterFly.com
a7tech 01-16-2006, 06:09 AM Yes, the website is up now.
I realize that it's night after weekend in the US at the moment so I do not try to push the situation yet. I posted here just to see if someone can confirm that something is wrong there or is it just with my acc.
Frimon86 01-16-2006, 06:29 AM seem's to be working fine with me sir, they respond to support inquires within an hour or less :) good luck m8
Master Bo 01-16-2006, 07:15 AM RF just sent me new, longer password and it works!

Wonderful. They change my password without notifying me first and without providing means to retrieve new password, and now I have to PM a user at third-site forum just to have my data accessible!
I won't name this kind of customer care. Because forum moderator won't like it at all.
radiofm 01-16-2006, 07:29 AM me too RF sent a new longer pass via email and i can login :)
The Manager 01-16-2006, 07:52 AM Make no sense to me. I have and have always had a 30 random character + numerical password there, which is hardly weak.
Maybe they didn't like my ID which was only 3 chars long.. :)
..and no, I cannot login and have no clue what is going on there.
Well I got the same at login, then I clicked on send password and recevied email with my new password.
The strange thing is that the password they sent is my OLDEST password I used!! (I changed my password about 4 times) guess that they had some data lost!! and depends on old backups!
The Manager 01-16-2006, 09:56 AM That finally worked for me also. I guess my trouble was they shortend the passwords, I was sent a new randomly generated pw.
a7tech 01-16-2006, 11:52 AM I PMed RegFly.
a7tech 01-16-2006, 12:08 PM OK. I just got a reply from risk management. They enabled my account.
Still need to figure out what's going on with my domains I registered yesterday since they show registerfly's contact info not mine (and that's not protectfly's info)
Stan Marsh 01-21-2006, 06:59 AM Still need to figure out what's going on with my domains I registered yesterday since they show registerfly's contact info not mine (and that's not protectfly's info)
Any luck with this? Has everything ended good for you???
a7tech 01-21-2006, 11:52 AM Yes, after I PMed RegFly he helped me to resolve my problems. Whois info has been corrected and payments for failed registration attempts have been refunded to my credit card (it took a couple of days for refunds to appear on my online statement).
Stan Marsh 01-21-2006, 01:55 PM It's ok, then. Sometimes they take longer than anticipated to answer. Especcially to billing problems, at least in my case. In other sorts of tickets the response and resolution times were satisfactionary and sometimes extremely fast.
