I have a question regarding domain name transfer. I'm currently using Registerfly, but they are getting some bad press here and I want to transfer to Moniker. (I've had my mind on Moniker even before the bad Registerfly info I've read on this board).

At the moment my domain is locked and I know I need to unlock it, but I also have Registerfly's privacy protection. Should I switch this off prior to applying to Moniker for my domain name transfer?

You definitely must unlock to transfer. As the transfer email will be sent to the admin email so it's best you turn off privacy protection too.
