Hi all

I would be appreciated if everyone could post their download speed for the following link:

http://205.161.97.189/test.zip

I am getting roughly 400- 500 KB/s from two locations and traceroute appears to be okay too.

14:47:24 (498.48 KB/s) - `test.zip' saved [79242143/79242143]
08:48:25 (371.17 KB/s) - `test.zip' saved [79242143/79242143]

Just under 16mbps, not too shabby :D

Excellent ping too :)

The IP is located at Virginia (East Coast) so I would guess downloading from east coast will be much faster. Here are two resuls:

From Weinbar/Deru (Arizona, West Coast):

16:45:14 (419.07 KB/s) - `test.zip' saved [79242143/79242143]

From VDI (New Jersey, East Coast):

19:42:17 (4.35 MB/s) - `test.zip' saved [79242143/79242143]

Very nice (up to 35Mbps)! Which brings me to my question, I thought ardentcomm has data centers only in the west coast? Do you happen to know the list of their datacenters?

cheers,

I think they have 29 POPs. But they told me to send servers to Virginia.

They only have manned colocation in Virginia. The rest is unamanned.

Download started at 400 kb/s and then it went down to 75 kb/s. Rest of the download remained at 75 kb/s (more or less).

Not bad, but not really fast. I'm on 4Mbps cable and my average speed is around 400 kb/s, so 75 is not much.

Maybe because I live in Belgium, Europe?

login to shell and simply type:

wget http://205.161.97.189/test.zip

To do this you can either have a shared hosting account w/ ssh or a dedicated server. (must be linux)
