View Full Version : is Cpanel Vertex skin completely abandonded
I've been using Vertex for our customers by default because I feel it's easier to use and laid out more clearly - but now that I am migrating our accounts elsewhere I noticed that Vertex is missing alot of Cpanel features from the past year or two.
Has any third party kept it up to date?
If not, are there other skin suggestions that are similar in ease of use and clarity?
Thanks for any help!
mrzippy 01-09-2006, 12:38 PM I recommend the www.rvskin.com theme. It looks good, has a ton of features/functionalty, and the author keeps it very up-to-date whenever cpanel makes a change.
whatever 01-09-2006, 04:50 PM Yes, I agree with mrzippy. RVskin is a great investment and always changing.
insiderhosting 01-09-2006, 09:40 PM Vertex is no longer maintained and updated, so you should use another cpanel skin as Mrzippy suggested. Rvskin is a great company to work with.

TonyB 01-09-2006, 11:38 PM Yeah rvskin is great probably the most popular skin we offer to our customers.
Apparently there were two different members here, one named "eprodigy" and the other "dangermouse"
who were keeping vertex up to date?
Anyone know them and any chance someone kept a copy?
Very old thread on the subject:

nickn 01-11-2006, 06:06 PM Another vote for rvskin - Pairote does a great job job maintaining rvskin. However, cPanel XP (http://www.cpanelskindepot.com/) is also very well maintained, also cpskins (http://www.cpskins.com/) is worth glancing at.
If anyone has Vertex in a tarball format - I'd be interested in taking a look at it, just drop an email to nickn@cpanel.net
Thanks.
nickn 01-11-2006, 06:23 PM Also - forgot to mention, if you liked Vertex, make sure you look at BlueLagoon and Monsoon. They are very similar to Vertex, and actively supported.
Vertex is on its way to you now (nickn)
Bluelagoon and Monsoon are not as nice as Vertex.
Vertex has nice grouping, is easy on the eyes and has just enough
graphics to be helpful but still remain low bandwidth.
For those that have forgotten (or are too new to cpanel to know)
how nice Vertex was take a good look at this screenshot:

Basically I think it needs a direct link to awstats (accessable but not linked)
and the spam assasign feature is there but all the options like "spam box"
are not there like X has. I believe virtually every other link still works properly.
Fantastico support is not there of course but that's completely optional to me,
I actually want to know when customers need things that fancy and would
rather do it for them (we offer complete management to our clients at no charge).
nickn 01-12-2006, 03:44 PM I've passed the Vertex screenshots (and theme) on to our Graphics/Web Design team. They will definitely take it into consideration when they develop the next theme. If anyone has any other suggestions, our ears are always open :)
Nick you do realize that cpanel actually owns vertex?
It was available up to six months ago right on theme support.

They just need to update and re-release it.
nickn 01-12-2006, 04:19 PM I was under the impression this was third party. I'll check on this, and if it is fully owned, all copyrights, etc to us, I think we might just be able to squeeze out an update. :)
harrius 01-16-2006, 07:47 PM Is it possible to get a copy of vertex? I used to use it a long time ago, and I miss it

Thanks
Harold
It's a slow download but anyone who wants the last official version can download it through the archive here:

Remember vertex is a couple years out of date at best.
nickn 01-17-2006, 04:20 PM Our designers have vertex in possession, and are working on creating something that's up to date, and still very much like vertex. :)

Any chance you can look at Monsoon too? There were so many things wrong with it that we stopped using it. Every time I opened a support ticket relating to those issues, I was told that they would be fixed soon but nothing was ever updated and now you guys don't take tickets direct from users.
