Hello there,

i have just set up a new ecommerce website.
I would like to accept credit cards online.
Beside paypal, I would like to use something else more professional that lets me accept credit cards.
My online store is located in Hong kong.
Anyone can suggest me reliable online payment systems?
Thanks for your help

I suggest you to go with third-party processor first like 2Co or Wordpay and after you get enough experience you can apply for your own merchant account and save your costs.
Also I would research what type of payment methods do your competitors use to make sure that you are not missing the important method of payments.

Worldpay.com if you are in Hong Kong

Hello Steven,

thanks for the suggestion, i have already contacted worldpay last week and they have sent me some brochures to take a look at.
But...honestly speaking, they are charging quite a lof of fees for everything.
:(

The company seems to be based in Singapore, correct?

We are in Hong Kong and we use WorldPay and PayPal. IMO, WorldPay is your best option if you have customers worldwide. If you mainly deal with local customers, you can use AsiaPay/ PayDollar: http://www.asiapay.com.hk/

Before we set up our WorldPay account, we have asked banks like HSBC and Bank of China, but their rates and requirement for internet merchant account are much worse than WorldPay. You may try to ask Bank of East Asia: http://www.hkbea.com/whp_servhk/whp_c_ebd.html
I think the yearly fee is about HKD$7000 which is the cheapest I found. But, I am not sure about the other charges and details since I haven't asked them much.

I think we have paid about $7000 including set up fee, 1st year yearly fee and futurepay.

If you do not have at least 6 month trading history, they will ask you to pay 1 month security deposit. We let them check our PayPal account and they don't ask us to pay the security deposit.

we're based in HK, client base is global...
moved from worldpay to 2co (1yr ago) because it's cheaper and it is just as good if not better.
We did approach worldpay (as their service had been good) to discount their costs on par with 2co but they refused... subsequently they lost a customer.
