What makes you think you can register one? -eg- 04-30-2002, 07:29 AM Actually I'm talking about purchasing domain from someone. I suppose it's too late to think about REGISTERING of a two character domain :) /eg GordonH 04-30-2002, 10:14 AM Plenty of 2 character domains left in .vg .ms .tc etc whtpost 04-30-2002, 11:59 AM A two character domain name, like any other domain name, is generally worth what the prospective buyer is willing to pay for it. Having said that, a two character domain that ends in .net is worth a LOT less than the same one that ends in .com Acroplex 04-30-2002, 04:02 PM When you say 2 char name, do you count its total length? I've seen ads for X-Y.com as 2 char, but that's 3 char actually. A domain like X1.com can fetch $20,000 or more A domain like X1.net can fetch $10k or more A domain like X1.org can fetch $1k or more. whtpost 04-30-2002, 06:09 PM Do you really think a .com domain is worth only twice as much as its .net counterpart? Incognito 04-30-2002, 10:32 PM The appraisals I have seen and performed based on information from people I trust in the industry place .com on the average at 5 times the value of .net. The exceptions to this are a web hosting or access or other "network" type site where the .com version is used for a totally different kind of business. The, and only then, does the factor change to 2.5. So typically .net = 20% value .com and in those rare cases .net = 40% .com Acroplex 04-30-2002, 10:34 PM Agreed; my estimates are for these rare, short, 2char domains. |
