Hi, are there any known defects with the XTR 733's? I heard that they were recalled a while back, was it because of the software or hardware or both?

I can get a good deal on a XTR 733 and would like to buy if I knew that those servers can work ok with the latest XTR software.

Thanks,

Yes, they were recalled a while back. They had some major problems. The biggest problem was processor related, where the processor could overheat and cause problems. Others included security issues and hard drive failures. While not all XTR 733's had those problems, enough did to cause a recall.

Well, having worked both with the XTR servers before the recall and after the recall, I would certainly say that they are worth buying.

I'm not sure about the "tons" of hardware defects, as we got ours running stable before they were recalled.

The new ones does not seem to have any problems at all.
