Dear WHT-ers

We are trying to change from aniversary billing to monthly. In the documents we find only a warning that its not recommended and on here we read its a troublesome procedure...

Any tips or ways to do it!

Mike

Ahhh so sorry!

We use modernbill for the billing and want to migrate all current clients to monthly billing on the 5th of each month...

Right now its on anniversery billing, but we read a lot of stories that this is a hard thing to accomplish, so we like some tips on how to achieve this.

Our billing staff is going nuts and it makes more sense to streamline so we only need to employ them 1 day a month for all accounts, rather then a hour here and there!

Do you have contacted their support department ? I think it is well elaborated here although it 's an old thread; http://forums.modernbill.com/showthread.php?t=17117

Here's a stab in the dark so to speak.
Couldnt you make a plan that has monthly billing, and then swtich everyone's plan to the monthly one? You should be able to do that for a single customer and then just change the database so that everyone has the correct plan, but is due on a monthly basis.

Does this mean that you are prorating new orders also?

Yeah, here's what that says -

WARNING: You can switch from monthly mode to daily mode anytime, but you CAN NEVER switch from daily mode to monthly mode!! This is due to the fact that the renew dates will never sync up again as required by monthly mode.
Any tips or ways to do it!
It doesn't look like you can, but there's got to be a workaround somewhere. Maybe manually editing each of your client's package billing renew dates might help?

Yes, new orders would be pro-rated -

Enter number between 1-28. If the order date is BEFORE the threshold day, then the client will ONLY pay the remainder of this month and the billing cycle we be set to renew on the first of next month. If the order date is AFTER the threshold day, then the client will HAVE to pay for the remainder of this month PLUS the next billing cycle. The renew date will then be several months in the future depending upon the billing cycle selected. NOTE: This value is used only when Anniversary Billing is OFF.

You're going to have a really hard time switching over. Your current clients might not get billed correctly anymore, and this is a better process to do if you can catch them at the end of the month. I use Modernbill myself and find the anniversary mode to be just fine for my needs. Pro-rated seems to drive away customers, but it is nice if they want to try for a few days at the end of the month (if you refund them when they cancel).

I'm wondering why you think that?

Pro-rata can work out great for new clients, if they sign up around the middle of the mth. They pay much less than the plan price, to get started etc.
