View Full Version : Switching from Heart to Inno
AcidNet 01-04-2006, 09:41 PM I posted a little while ago about heart internet and got a lot of negativity about there "unlimited" claims.
Well I've decided to switch from them to innohosting, but not because of the unlimited.
Heart: £35 per month
Inno: £21
But the main reason is heart are a 9-5 company and I usually need support after 10 at night as this is when I do most work on the site.
Also by using there own Control Panel it limits me in what I can do.
Hope Im making the right decision.
IH-Rameen 01-05-2006, 12:28 AM You made the right choice :)
I know we don't offer unlimited, but as a result we can concentrate on more important resources like 24x7 support & reliability.
Welcome aboard :)
StackHost 01-05-2006, 04:17 AM Glad to see you found a new host. Please let us know how it goes.

How does not offering unlimited features on your hosting plans free your staff up to focus on other things?
AcidNet 01-05-2006, 05:33 PM I think he ment by putting the time and resources into having enough servers to have the ability to offer unlimited.
Or just got his words mixed up.

Huh?
When I did I say it frees up my staff? I said resources...
Lets use some common sense.
Use all resources and oversell cheap unlimited plans
OR
Not use all resources and trying to offer the unlimited, charge reasonable prices and afford staff
Heart Internet offers 9-5 support, we offer 24x7x365. Can your common sense figure out why?

No need to become defensive, no one's attacking you here ;)
However, my point still stands. It doesn't take human resources to offer unlimited features; it takes server resources. How can reducing server resources allow you to improve your technical support offerings? Offering unlimited features versus mildly limited features doesn't make a noticeable impact on a budget.

Well let me set it out clearly how I see things:
Offering unlimited:
*Money will be spent on server resources. Hard drives, RAM, more CPU power etc.
*Overloaded servers (you will need to overload to ensure economies of scale). More resources spent on fixing the problem with overloaded server(s). Cancelling/suspended accounts, dealing with the complaints of customers when they realise account is suspended. If the client posts on a forum such as this, you'll need to defend your rep and post your side. Again more resources.
*More planning required, predicting future resource usage etc.
I see more resources being used this way. Be it human, financial or server resources.
It's obvious we both run our hosting comp. differently. This is how it has worked very well for me:peace:

Well I can definitely agree to that, we offer our clients both ;)

Both what?
stevlam 01-17-2006, 09:55 AM Hi AcidNet
Any feedback on using InnoHosting yet? I'm thinking about using them, I put in a few questions this morning to their sales support but 6 hours later still no reply, so not a good start!
What do they offer above Heart? Is there anything you lose going from Heart (apart from 'Unlimited' that is)?
thanks for any help
AcidNet 01-17-2006, 11:30 AM Hmm,
I always get a reply within half hour.
So far so good.
Havent had any problems, well apart from Name servers but I think that was down to heart.
I will do a full review soon.
But yeah id go ahead use them.
AcidNet 01-17-2006, 12:03 PM Heart Internet:
I found that at first I was amazed with their service, but after a while you find your slightly limited in what you can do because they use their own control panel which they call eXtend. Now the cp itself is ok but thinking of my clients I would rather they used cPanel. Also I prefer using WHM rather than their own reseller control panel.
I was having trouble with my email accounts aswell, for some reason my inbox was just not receiving half the emailsb that were sent to it, now this for me was the deciding factor. I also couldnt get outlook to receive mails from the server.
Inno Hosting:
After speaking to the owner on msn for a couple of weeks he convinced me to transfer, Becuase I transferd at new year when there was a special offer I got everything doubled, so for £21 a month I get the following:
20GB SPace
160GB Bandwith
90 Account Limit
And then the usuall stuff.
Also for £3 a month (another special offer) I get daily offsite backups, so In all im paying £24 a month.
When I contact there customer support I get very fast replys, there has been the odd ticket which has taken longer, but to be expected I suppose. As far as I have noticed the site has not been down yet and I have always been able to get in through FTP. I enjoy the level of support you get and how far the "techs" go to help you.
In all I would recomend Inno.
Just My piece :)

stevlam 01-20-2006, 08:24 AM Hi
Thanks for the info. I did get a reply eventually and they answered my questions. Thought of some more since of course!
Do you know if they offer Telnet/ssh access?
cheers
AcidNet 01-21-2006, 03:51 AM I believe they do, but dont qoute me on that.
tntweb1 04-30-2006, 07:06 AM I not sure i understand the accounts limit on Inno - i mean if your running a hosting business like AcidInternet and running it off Inno reseller account what happens when you reach the 90 account limit. Does it mean you can only have 90 clients. Or do we assume that once you have 90 clients you can afford to move to a higher account at Inno with more clients.
I was impressed with Inno fast response to PMs on here - but that my have been just fluke that he and I were online at the same time. It was impressive considering i assume Inno is based in the UK and my PMs were being made at around 1.30am BST.

Hehe...In this industry, time doesn't really have any significance anymore. When you are catering for a worldwide market, you need to do things on a worldwide timezone...
tntweb1 04-30-2006, 12:44 PM True - but you can't be implying that you are up 24x7 waiting to answer my PMs :-)
