I am currently with an AWFUL hosting company and I have been looking around for a new one. Does anyone have experience with ICD Soft (www.icdsoft.com)? It looks like they offer a lot, for only 5 dollars a month - 333 MB webspace, 5 GB transfer and hits, etc... You do have to pay for a year of service, though. They are based in Hong Kong. What they are offering on their website looks too good to be true. Any information would be very much appreciated.

thanks,
Patty

i've said it before and i'll say it again...."If it looks too good to be true, then 99.9% of the time it is"

You may want to look over their TOS and AUP very carefully so that you don't lose 1 years prepayment...

try their support (i use their support only for help) and i bet you $50 they will respond within 30 minutes. I got 3 accounts with them over 3 years, and its true, they are good, very good.

you probably want to take when considering - no phone support, and only 1 plan available which means that you won't be able to upgrade if you need more space / traffic

If you look about 10 posts down you'll see my "1 year review" on said company which somebody has dragged up from the past :)

Suffice to say I enjoyed every minute I spent with that company.
Not a single major issue.
No support e-mail took more than 30 minutes to be replied to - that includes 1:00am, 2:00am and Sunday messages.
Japan based servers, although they now offer US servers locations too.
The one and only reason I left them was because I needed a reseller account for all of my/my fiancee's domains.
If they had offered a reseller account I'd still be with them now.

If you want to know is that prices have something with reality - IMO their prices are affordable, but many hosts offer different interesting packages for that price.

After testdriving plenty of hosts/scamartists im gonna stick with the one that never let me down, even if this means only 1 plan. Hosts; take ICDsoft as an example and you also will get positive replies. ICDsoft offers upgrade for items like data transfer, mysql, subdomain, etc.

I just upgraded one of my accounts with 2msqls and 5gig of data transfer. Total transaction took less then 30minutes.

I have a friend who has used that company for a few years now. They dont offer too many perks though for the first time user their interface is quite easy to get around. They do however have an awsome uptime percentage though.

I had two friends with them.. one moved since they needed more features and the other didn't need the site anymore. However, they were both satisfied with them during their sites duration.

Have to say, without a doubt, the best shared host I have ever used. They do have awesome support - which I have never waited more than 20 minutes for a response. Most of the time within 10-15 minutes. They have a decent jazzed up version of cPanel control panel, offer mySQL and PHP, and their network is very tight. For the money you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal.
