View Full Version : Can someone tell me if this is even possible?

I am starting up a sweepstakes website. I'm hoping that I will be able to have two different sweepstakes per month:

One small, free-to-enter, sweepstake. (This month's is a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Amazon.com)

and

One large sweepstake (this month's, or possibly the next two month's prize, depending on a few factors, would be a 30gb Video iPod). The people entering this large sweepstake would have to sign up for hosting at a website and stay with them for at least 30 days (hosting that costs 4$/month or more). {The reason this would be worth it for those entering is because there would be fewer entries, which would mean the chance of winning the iPod would be much larger. And it's a small price to pay at only $4/month.} The hosting is through an affiliate program. This is how I would afford to give the iPod as a prize. It would be a win-win situation: more customers for the hosting company, and more possible for me to supply large prizes.

What I'm getting at is this:
I have a script that collects entries, but I don't know how to match those entries up with the people who have followed through and signed up with the hosting company. I am not provided with the names or emails of those who sign up through my link, therefore I can't manually match the entries up with the referals.

Is there a way I could track this? I would have to also be able to know who cancels before the 30 days so that I can take them out of the sweepstake. Is there a way I can work with cookies or, something, to be notified that the person followed through with the requirement after filling out the entry form?

It's hard to put in words, I hope I was at least semi-clear!

And please don't move this to offers or requests, I'm not looking to pay someone for a script. I'm just wondering if it is even possible, and how to go about making it possible.

Thanks in advance!

What info are you getting about people that are registering through your link?

The only information I would need to see through the affiliate program is the IP, Name, or Email. Then, manually, I could validate entries that way. The only information I can see, though, is the time they bought a hosting plan/domain, and their transaction number.

I think you need to talk with the hosting company that you are an affiliate of and have them give you access to this information. This is the only way I can see this happening.
