Hi guys,

Well I'm new to purchasing domain names, so sorry if I sound noobish lol, but I've been looking at getting one from godaddy.com it comes with free hosting, but its add supported so I was hoping on putting my site on 50webs.com and forarding the url (if thats even possible lol). I also plan to add a forum and other pages to the domain such as mydomain(dot)com/forum (This is my first post so I cant link lol) or something.

I'd appreciate any help from anyone, or anyone who cant point me to some documentation on how to use domains. Sorry if this doesnt belong here, but I googled domain forum and yours came up so I thought I'd see if I could get some info here.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. You SHOULD be able to do what you want. In the godaddy.com control panel, put url forwarding to your 50webs.com website and it should work.

I have to ask though, why go through the trouble of getting the domain and not get paid hosting? I usually found the reverse to be the usual situation.

um... I'm sure this'll sound nooby but I dont really understand lol. I've only ever used free web design places like 50webs and the site I want to make, I want to do it with a little cash spent as possible and yet have the "professional look" of a good site, mainly by having a good url, with a .com domain.

A site like 50webs is free so why would I wnt to get a paid host?

like I said sorry if this is a nooby question but I'm new at paid hosting, of anything lol.

Are you going for 50webs FREE plan, then you can't have a forum as it doesn't have cgi,php nor mysql or any database.

I buy mine from iPowerWeb for $2.99
Then hosting from 1&1 for $2.99 a month.

Ads are such a hassle. I tried t35 hosting. That's free but ad supported too.

I'd just try a seperate alternative because you will run into a lot of problems, and if you try to evade the ads, the company may take action.

I don't know about 50webs, but most free hosting is ad supported. For $12 a year 100webspace.com will remove the ads, so you can get a clean site.
