What do you do after you receive a fraud order? Notify the card holder? The credit card company? Do nothing at all?
Just curious.

Just curious. GnomeyNewt 04-29-2002, 07:12 PM I receive about 3-4 fraud orders a week. Depending on the transaction would depend the course of action I would take. Bad address/Phone -- not much to do. Something like... De Chi 2 Dong 210306 Soul, KO 135837 KR Good address/Phone -- I usually give them a call. First to find out if anyone ordered hosting, secondly if they did not know, let them know what happened. In my experience, they have already had bogus transactions on the card and have canceled it. Every time I've contacted MasterCard/Visa/Whatever, all they say is that "We probably have that account flagged already", so I just stop calling them about it. I think that there is so much fraud on the Internet these days, they do not have time to take reports of every incident that happens, even if we do have their IP address (although it might not be traceable) and possibly other information that might be useful. Some of these scammers are not very smart and they don’t cover their butts. One thing is for sure, as phony as an order looks the least you can do is attempt to inform them that you cannot process the order. |
