View Full Version : WHT slow every evening Pacific time
catfished 01-03-2006, 12:52 AM For at least the last two weeks I have been experiencing extremely slow loading of WHT pages in the evening (roughly 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Pacific time). There usually aren't any DB errors, just takes more than a minute per page load, I'm on cable modem and other sites are loading fine. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Well I hit submit for this post, it tried for over 2 minutes and finally timed out. I'm hitting submit once more and if it times out again I'll give up for good.
Edit: I hit submit once more, it gave a DB error and it finally went after I refreshed.
spulis 01-03-2006, 12:53 AM Yeah I have seen the same.
Hands-on Mark 01-03-2006, 01:17 AM Wow WHT is awful tonight.
Someone must have forgot to feed them.
I've received about 4 total "crashes" where it just sits there and then dies - loads nothing.
Then mysql errors.
what mysql error? The "Server shutdown in progress" one?
SiteHostCity 01-03-2006, 01:36 AM Same here. I thought it was me....
Hands-on Mark 01-03-2006, 02:57 AM Yes ub3r. That's the only error I get when I get a mysql error that is.
Hands-on Mark 01-04-2006, 01:03 AM Just got it again.
Shaw Networks 01-04-2006, 08:54 PM I was just going to post a thread about the slow page loads and not uncommon database errors I've been getting. Seems you guys beat me to it :) Definitely an ongoing issue, could a moderator shed some light?
Hostex Australia 01-04-2006, 10:14 PM Same here, but the site is generally fast, just a lot of MySQL errors.
StackHost 01-05-2006, 06:18 AM They do have their occassional slow downs, but they are great most of the time. Hopefully they will get it worked out soon.
SoftWareRevue 01-05-2006, 09:30 AM . . . shed some light? :smash: :smash: :smash:
durned technology
Dogtanian 01-05-2006, 02:40 PM I havent had any problems, but maybe the hamster is on his last legs :P

catfished 01-06-2006, 12:44 AM It's been ok here for the last couple of nights. Crossing my fingers.

MoxieColo 01-09-2006, 12:23 AM Site has never spit error's out for me. Just some lag in page loading.

same here couple minutes ago, weird. :(
AceWeb 01-10-2006, 05:50 AM I have also started feeling slowdowns in loading WHT Threads. Specially when I open more than one thread at the same time (in a new window), it can take few minutes to load. I rarely get mysql/db errors; the main issue is that it takes a very long time to get the thread loaded.
catfished 01-10-2006, 02:10 PM It's even slow for me this morning, usually it only happens in the evening (Pacific Time). I just got a DB error a couple of minutes ago.

? still?
catfished 01-11-2006, 03:58 PM Yeah, it's happening again here. WHT is taking up too much of my time waiting for pages to load. This has been going on now for several weeks and seemingly nothing is being done to correct it. As much as I'll miss it, I think I'll just give up on WHT.:crying: :crying:
SoftWareRevue 01-11-2006, 04:01 PM I find it more interesting that, it happens, Ed shows up.
Coincidence? <<<< we need a  emoticon. :D
Kimmikat 01-11-2006, 06:22 PM We traded the hamsters for gerbils last year. Right now there's a shortage of those things.
I havent had any problems, but maybe the hamster is on his last legs :P

Introducing, the WHT server power supply :gthumb:
Someone forget to feed him? :O
ramcjbin 01-12-2006, 04:38 PM WHT may need more dedicated QUAD XEON posts
Shaw Networks 01-16-2006, 05:39 AM The slow downs are becoming more and more common and aggravating. For up to 10 minutes at a time occuring 2-3 out of 5 times that I visit WHT every page will load extremely slowly. No page errors or anything, just slow for about 5-15 minutes before kicking back up to regular speed.
Please do something! :)
