rackAID is seeking a graphics/web designperson/team to assist with a redesign of our web site.

We expect this to require a fair amount of time in planning, developing and then tweaking the final design. I would expect at least 1-2 hours in pre-design consultation to see if our preliminary ideas are on target. We are sysadmins not designers. ;) We will likely need continued support for new graphics, ads, etc. So 20-40 hours of work may not be unreasonable.

Please review requirements carefully. If you meet the requirements, see the project description below.

Absolute Requirements
You must meet these requirements to be considered. If you cannot meet these requirements, please do not reply.

US Citizen or Valid US Work Permit
Currently reside in the US
Provide Phone Consultation
3+ Years Graphic Design Experience
3+ Years Web Design (HTML,XHTML,JavaScript,DHTML)
3 or more references reachable by phone
5 or more unique sites in your portfolio
Submit to pre-employment background check
Sign NDA

Project Overview
rackAID is currently working on new web design that will involved a much expanded web site. The new site should be easy to use and maintain. Code will need to be well commented, and modularized. Items like menus, footers, and similar content should be pulled in via includes. Templates should be SEO friendly and support most major browsers on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Our staff will handle content and final site production.

The top goals of the new design are:

Promote sales of our products and services.
Reduce pre-sales questions.
Streamline the ordering process.
Promote our brand.
Improve search engine rankings in key areas.

Deliverables
The deliverables will be 3-6 Dreamweaver/Contribute compatible templates.
All associated graphics. Graphics must include final production versions (jpgs/gifs) plus Photoshop work files.
All associated scripts (javascripts, etc) required for the templates.
All associated CSS and other files required for the templates.

Additonal Info.
We have done preliminary research regarding a navigation scheme and some potential site design ideas. We also have an SEO expert that will review the template designs.

Current design plans require:
Dynamic HTML Menus
Graphical elements (icons, stock photograph, etc) used to identify specific sections of the site.
Clean, fast design that require no plugins (no flash).

We are not going to post or send privately a budget. This job is well suited for a Level II web designer. Our budget is based on how much time you require and your skill level.

huck, check out loadingdeck.com and see if they would be able to work on your project, I know Dan the designer that did our site is in the states and produces amazing work, If he doesn't respond here, try shooting him an email, thats of course if he is what you need.

I've seen him mentioned a few times. Will give it a shot.

Perhaps I am going about this the wrong way as we are getting too many people that simply lack design experience. I can slice a template monster template ... what I need is someone with design expertise, strong understanding of site navigation, good coding skills, etc. Hence the 20-40 hour estimate to produce only 3-6 templates and associated graphics.

I have some applicants who's own home page fails basic HTML validation, lacks CSS support, and has a number of rookie technical mistakes.
