Hello all! I am currently looking for a host. I can pay between $5 to $10 a month. I don't think I'll require much space and bandwidth at the moment since my site is small, however, I would like a host I could grow with. I don't need anything fancy such as PHP or CGI.

I do have a bit of a catch. I would like a host that doesn't require a domain name. A subdomain is fine. Could anyone recommend a good , reliable host that will let me use a subdomain instead of a domain name?

Thanks in advance :)

I do believe pxtek.com offers subdomain hosting for shared packages, check them out.

I'm being hosted by them right now and their services are amazing. Fast, and nice support as well :gthumb:

Why not find a web host that offers a free domain with the plan if you do not want to pay for one? Domains are cheap now, only $8 per year.

Most hosts will not have problems hosting subdomains, it's pretty easy. The issue is do you have access to modify your dns records to point your subdomain? You need to create A record so that it's pointed to the new host. You may have to ask your current host that hosting your main domain to do this for you, or settle for managed dns. Or if the subdomain part is not important at all, you can actually ip direct access your site and forget about subdomain altogether.

check Dreamhost

but i dont think it is good idea to use a domain name that come with your plan.. . later if u need to move it will be hard for u to take it from them .. so better regisiter it your own and just point it to the server :)

I think Elixant (http://www.elixant.com) can provide you with what you need. The prices are great, and the support is amazing. Give 'em a try. :)
