Lubby 01-10-2006, 04:45 PM They also used the domain casa-host.com and do not show a very high fraud score on fraudguardian for instance. Also got another order today with the following info:
Email: potentialmedia@itelgua.com
Domain: serv-comp.com
IP: 4.245.218.99
I am pretty sure this is also fraudulent. *Note email address.

No, we don't. They're stolen credit card details.
What we need is for everyone to properly review orders they receive and ensure they're phone verified.
Does no one think of the consequences?
If you receive an order under my name, tomorrow and post my private details across 10 webhosting forums and slap "FRAUD WATCH OUT" all over it: Phew - enjoy your chat with my lawyer.

Did you notify the person whose credit card details that you were going to publically post their information across a few boards?
Did they mind?
Oh, you didn't tell them. That's a surprise.
Just wait til they google and find out you slapped their name in a bunch of threads named 'fraud/scammer' and labeled them that.
AH-Tina 01-10-2006, 05:31 PM No, we don't. They're stolen credit card details.
Agreed. I think we should NEVER post a victim's name and contact info (address, phone number, etc.) publicly without their permission. It just seems wrong.
Post the domain name and email address and any IP or other information that identifies the fraudster...but don't indentify the victim.

David 01-10-2006, 05:45 PM Poor Juliet will be fired one day for this I'm sure!
Her new company's marketing director gets bored at work one day and decides to google for a few employees. Sure enough up pops Juliet's name in a thread about scammers, fraudsters and thieves! He was only hunting for scandalous pictures and look what he's found: a treasure trove of details!
Oh no! The person he just hired is a thief, fraudster and a scammer? He may not understand the context of the thread at all because guess what: He doesn't process e-commerce all day and really has no idea what's going on outside of 'Yeah, that layout looks good let's go with it, print tomorrow!'
Sure enough the next week shes laid off. You're suddenly the one liable for defamation of character and you'll be paying her wages for the next three years. :)
Good luck with that one kiddo!

Now, that's going off the deep end a bit...but your scenerio is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

I google everyone I've ever hired/contracted a job out to -- if I didn't understand the context of some of the threads I'm sure I might look at them a bit odd as well. This is a 'spammer/fraudster alert' that just happens to include Juliet as one of them.
I wouldn't consider it too farfetched: The story itself might be but I'm sure it happens more often than we know!
ElectricFmHosting 01-10-2006, 06:04 PM Thanks for the heads up
David 01-10-2006, 07:52 PM Thanks for removing the information Lubby, no hard feelings: I just don't think it's fair to the unsuspecting fraud victim.
After having their credit card details stolen they have enough to deal with.
Hopefully the same type of details get removed from future threads.
Lukus 01-10-2006, 08:31 PM Thanks for the info.
